1) Generate a truth table for the following
statements.

IV. (𝐴 ∧ ~𝐵) ⟹ (𝐶 ∨ 𝐷)
2) Convert each statement below into symbolic form and
generate its truth table.

I. If John doesn't pass then he will lose his scholarship


and drop out of school.
II. If it rains and you don't open your umbrella then
you will get wet.
III. If your car won't start or you don't wake up on time
then you will miss your interview and you will not
get the new job.
3) Let p, q, and r be the following statements.
p : Traveling to Mars is expensive.
q : I will travel to Mars.
r : I have money.
Express the following English sentences as symbolic
expressions.

(a) I have no money and I will not travel to Mars.


(b) I have no money and traveling to Mars is expensive, or
I would travel to Mars.
(c) I have money and will travel to Mars.

(d) Traveling to Mars is not expensive and I will go to


Mars, or traveling to Mars is expensive and I will not go
to Mars.

4) Verify these logical expressions using truth tables.

interviewed about his or her likes and dislikes of types of

pizza crust. Of the people interviewed, 220 liked thin

crust, 270 liked thick crust, 70 liked both, and 50 did not

like pizza at all. What was the total cost of this survey?
