Math LESSON-PLAN

This lesson plan has three main objectives: 1) describe squares and rectangles, 2) draw squares and rectangles, and 3) demonstrate cooperation. It includes activities like forming shapes from cutouts, analyzing properties of squares and rectangles, teacher examples, and drawing objects outside. Students will work in groups on activities and be assessed on shape accuracy and cooperation. The lesson teaches that squares have four equal sides and four corners, while rectangles have two sets of parallel sides of equal length.

DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN MATHEMATICS II

I. Intended Learning Objectives/Outcomes

At the end of the 60-minute session, the students should be able to attain the
following with 80% level of proficiency:
1. describe the sides and corners of a square and rectangle (cognitive);
2. draw objects that are shaped like square and rectangle (psychomotor);
and
3. demonstrate cooperation in the given activity (affective).
II. Subject Matter
a. Topic: Square and Rectangle
b. Reference: Mathematics for Everyday Use
c. Materials Used: colored paper cut out, task cards, ppt presentation,
laptop
III. Learning Procedures
Teachers’ Activity Learners’ Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
-Everybody stand up for the prayer. Rena, lead the -Amen…
prayer.
2. Greetings
-Good morning class! -Good morning, Ma’am.
Good morning
classmates. It’s nice to
see you again.
3. Checking of Attendance
- Who is absent today?
-Nobody is absent today
Ma’am.

4. Setting of Classroom Standards

-Before we start our class, what are the things that you
need to observe or do while the class is going on? 1. Keep quiet every time
the teacher is talking.
2. Sit properly.
3. Raise your hand if you
want to answer.
4. Wear you face mask
every time.
5. No sharing of personal
belongings.
B. Developmental Activities
1. Activity
“Form Me and Describe Me”
Mechanics:
a. The class will be grouped into two using THE (The pupils will do the
BOAT IS SINKING. activity)
b. Each group will be given paper cut outs.
c. They will be given time to paste the cut outs on a
paper.
d. Their goal is to create a closed plane figure
specifically square and rectangle.
e. To assure the success of the activity, the teacher
will serve as facilitator.
f. After they formed the shape, they will present
their output.
2. Analysis
Questions:
a. What did you observe with the length of the -Their lengths are all the
paper cut outs in the first shape (square) same Ma’am.

b. How many corners does the first shape have? -It has four corners,
Ma’am.

c. How many sides meet at the corner? -It has also four sides
that meet at the corner
Ma’am.
d. How about the cut outs in the second shape
(rectangle)? -The two paper cut outs
Ma’am have the same
length and the other two
have also the same
length.

e. How many sides does it have? -It has four sides Ma’am.

f. How many corners does it have? - It has also four sides

Ma’am.

3. Abstraction
(The teacher will present the square and rectangle)

Look at Shape A.
Point to the corners.
How many corners are there?
How many sides meet at the corner? -There are four Ma’am.
-There are also four
Ma’am.

The shape is called a SQUARE. It has four sides and

four corners. The sides are of the same length.

Look at Shape B.
Point to the corners.
How many corners does it have? -It has four corners
Ma’am.

How many sides does it have? -It has also four sides
Ma’am.

The shape is a rectangle. Its parallel sides are of the

same length and its opposite sides have the same
length.

(The teacher will present examples that are shaped like

square and rectangle)

(Afterwards, she will also solicit examples from the

pupils)

4. Application

“ROAM AROUND AND DRAW”

Mechanics
1. The class will be grouped into four.
2. They will select a leader and a secretary.
3. Then, they will roam around the school for five
minutes.
4. They need to draw one object that is shaped like
a square and another one object that is shaped
like a rectangle.
5. The teacher will present the rubric first before
starting the activity highlighting the need of the
cooperation of every member.

Rubric:

C. Evaluation
Direction: On a whole sheet of paper, draw a happy face  if the statement is
correct and draw a sad face  if it is wrong. Write your answer on the
blank before the item.

_________1. The square has four corners.

_________2. The rectangle has 2 sides of the same length.
_________3. The sides of a square do not have the same length.
_________4. The rectangle has 5 sides and 5 corner.
_________5. The square has four sides.

D. Assignment
Direction: Research on the angle that is present in the square and rectangle.
Write your answer on your notebook.
