1 Binary

The document outlines a lesson plan for a 7th grade technology and livelihood education class on computer number systems. The lesson introduces students to binary codes, bits, and bytes by having them watch an explanatory video and participate in group activities exploring these topics. The goal is for at least 75% of students to understand the use of binary codes in digital representation by the end of the 1 hour class period.

Possible answers:
1. When I see these images I think of
codes and programming.
2. I think these numbers exists to help
our computer to function well.

the computer

Processing questions: do.
1. Based on the video, what is the purpose of binary code?
2 How do the bits help the computer to function?

Unlocking of Difficulties
binary code - represents text, computer processor
instructions, or any other data using a two-symbol system.
Bits – smallest unit of digital information
Byte – collection of 8 bits
D. EXPLAIN (Discussing new BIT - is an abbreviation of binary digit and represents the
concepts/ Developing mastery) smallest piece of data.
A bit can have only two possible values, a one digit (1) or a
zero digit (0). A bit can be used to represent the state of
something that has two states.
Computers use binary codes to represent and interpret
letters, numbers and special characters with bits.
A commonly used code is the American Standard Code for
Information. Interchange (ASCII). With ASCII, each
character is represented by a string of bits.
Each group of eight bits, such as the representations of
letters and numbers, is known as a byte. Codes can be used
to represent almost any type of information digitally:
computer data, graphics, photos, voice, video, and music.

GROUP ACTIVITY
Instructions: Group the class into three groups. Each group
will have 15 minutes to do research on the topic given to
them, after which they will present their topics to the class.

TOPIC 1 Binary code, bits and byte

TOPIC 2 Role of binary number system in digital
computer system.
