of Climate Change.
How did climate change become a
global problem?
who’s ENSO?
El Nino Southern Oscillation
(ENSO)
- ability to alter or change the
atmospheric circulation of the world,
affecting temperature and
precipitation.
El Nino
- ‘liitle boy’
-warming of the ocean
surface in the central and
eastern tropical Pacific ocean
- warm water in the western
tropical Pacific Ocean shifts
to eastward toward South
America.
LaNina
- little girl
- climate pattern that is
characterized by the
cooling of the ocean along
tropical west coast in
South AMerica or eastern
tropical Pacific Ocean.
PAGASA: La Niña is weakening and is
likely to continue into the April-May-June
2022 season and then return to ENSO-
neutral levels in May-Jun-Jul 2022. La
Nina increases the likelihood of having
above normal rainfall conditions in some
areas of the country.
Global Warming and
Climate Change
Climate Change vs. Global Warming
• recent and ongoing rise in global
average temperature near the Earth's
surface.
• caused by the increasing
concentrations in the greenhouse
gases in the atmosphere causing
climate patterns to change.
Climate Change vs. Global Warming
5. Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC)
- volatile derivative of methane and ethane.
-developed during 1930's as safe , nontoxic
alternative to ammonia as refrigerants and
spray are propellants
-chlorine reacts with ozone layer
If the problem with climate change
wouldn't be resolve faster, what could
be the impact or threat of it after 20 to
50 years?
BAKITList!
Impact and Threat!
Rise in Temperature
0.14degree F (0.08degreesC)
per decade since 1880, and
the rate of warming over the
past 40 years is more than
twice that: 0.32F (0.18C) per
decade since 1981. 2020
was the second-warmest
year on r ec or d bas e d o n
NOAA's temperature data,
and land areas were record
warm.
Impact and Threat!
Shrinking Ice Sheet
A whopping 750 billion tons
of ice is melting every
year due to global
warming. That's 24,000
tons of melting water
being added to the world's
oceans every single
second or the same as 10
olympic swimming pools
24/7/365.
Impact and Threat!
Sea-level Rise
In 2020, global mean sea
level was 91.3 millimeters
(3.6 inches) above the
1993 average, making it
the highest annual
average in the satellite
record (1993-present).
Impact and Threat!
Biodiversity Depletion
- animals are forced to
migrate to new,
cooler areas to
survive. While others
gets to extinction or
near extinction due to
severe climate.
Impact and Threat!
Ocean Acidification
- Caused by carbon emission
- CO2 reacts to water
producing a weak acid-
’Carbonic Acid’ changing the
chemical composition of water
which has a huge impact to
the calcification process
plants and animals
Climate Change Mitigation
2. Use of Bioenergy
-usage of renewable resources
3. Reduction of Changed Fertilizer Use
-GHG N20
- proper timing of fertilizer application
(Global Positioning System software)
- Organic fertilizer
