Weather forecast & warnings for next 5 days

➢ A Low Pressure Area lies over Eastcentral Arabian Sea on 08th November, 2023.
➢ A cyclonic circulation lies over Comorin area in lower tropospheric levels.
➢ Under the influence of above systems:
✓ Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall very likely over south
Peninsular India and light/moderate isolated to scattered rainfall over Konkan &
Goa and Madhya Maharashtra during next 3 days.
✓ Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Coastal Karnataka, North Interior
Karnataka & South Interior Karnataka, south Konkan & Goa and south Madhya
Maharashtra on 08th November and over Kerala and Tamil Nadu on 08 th & 09th
November.
✓ Isolated very heavy rainfall also likely over south Kerala & south Tamil Nadu on
08th November.
❖ A Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies runs roughly
along Long. 70°E to the north of Lat. 30°N and another Western Disturbance as a
trough in middle tropospheric westerlies runs roughly along Long. 60°E to the north of
Lat. 30°N.
❖ Under the influence of above systems:
✓ Light to moderate isolated rainfall/snowfall very likely over Jammu-Kashmir-
Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 08th November; over Uttarakhand on 09th
& 10th November; scattered to fairly widespread rainfall/snowfall over Jammu-
Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 09th & 10th November; isolated
to scattered rainfall over Himachal Pradesh during 08 th-10th November; isolated
light rainfall over Haryana, Chandigarh on 09th & 10th November; over Punjab and
West Rajasthan on 09th November and over Delhi on 10th November.
❖ Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall very likely over Andaman &
Nicobar Islands during next 7 days.

❖ Rainfall distribution (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today): at many
places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Coastal Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam,
Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe; at a few places over Konkan & Goa,
Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka; at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-
Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Madhya Maharashtra, Arunachal
Pradesh and North Interior Karnataka.

❖ Heavy rainfall at isolated places over Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Goa and
Coastal Karnataka.

❖ Significant rainfall recorded (from 0830 hours IST of yesterday to 0830 hours IST of today) (in
cm): Kerala: Enadimangalam (dist Pathanamthitta) 9, Urumi (dist Kozhikode) 8, Quilandi (dist
Kozhikode) 6; Tamil Nadu: Tirupoondi (dist Nagapattinam), Periyanaickenpalayam (dist
Coimbatore) 9 each, RSCL-2 Kedar (dist Villupuram) 8, Needamangalam (dist Thiruvarur),

❖ Minimum Temperature Departures (as on 08-11-2023): Minimum temperatures are

appreciably above normal (3.1°C to 5.0°C) at a few places over Konkan & Goa, Madhya
Maharashtra; above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at most places over Rajasthan, Haryana-
Chandigarh-Delhi, Gujarat state, Karnataka, Rayalaseema; at many places over Punjab, Coastal
Andhra Pradesh & Yanam; at a few places over Telangana, West Uttar Pradesh; at isolated places
over Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Assam &
Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry
& Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe. They are below normal (-1.6°C to -3.0°C) at isolated places
over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and Odisha and near normal over rest parts of the
country. Today, the lowest minimum temperature of 13.0°C is reported at Kanpur (West
Uttar Pradesh) over the plains of the country.

❖ Maximum Temperature Departures (as on 07-11-2023): Maximum temperatures were

above normal (1.6°C to 3.0°C) at many places over East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh; at a
few places over East Madhya Pradesh; at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-
Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi,
Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat state, Telangana,
Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Tamil
Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Assam & Meghalaya. They were below normal (-1.6°C to -
3.0°C) at isolated places over Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Arunachal Pradesh and near normal
over rest parts of the country. Yesterday, the highest maximum temperature of 36.8°C was
reported at Surendranagar (Saurashtra & Kutch).

Meteorological Analysis (Based on 1430 hours IST)

❖ The Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with

its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long. 70°E to the north
of Lat. 30°N persists.

❖ The other Western Disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric

westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km above mean sea level roughly along Long.
60°E to the north of Lat. 30°N persists.

❖ The Low Pressure Area over Eastcentral Arabian Sea with the associated
cyclonic circulation extending upto 3.1 km above mean sea level persists. It is
likely to move nearly westwards and become less marked over the same
region during next 24 hours.

❖ The cyclonic circulation over Comorin area extending upto 1.5 km above
mean sea level persists.

❖ Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu,
Puducherry & Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe; heavy rainfall at isolated places over
Konkan & Goa, south Madhya Maharashtra and Karnataka.
❖ Thunderstorm with lightning & gusty winds (30-40 kmph) very likely at isolated
places over Kerala & Mahe and with lightning at isolated places over Konkan & Goa,
Madhya Maharashtra, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana, Rayalaseema,
Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal.
❖ Squally weather (wind speed reaching 40-45 kmph gusting to 55 kmph) very
