1.inventory Visibility

SAP Customer Activity Repository provides near real-time visibility into inventory levels by combining inventory counts from SAP ERP with unprocessed sales data collected from points of sale. It contains virtual data models that allow users to view current inventory positions factoring in both processed and unprocessed sales as well as stock that is in transit between locations in different company codes. This provides a more accurate view of current inventory levels.

Inventory Visibility

SAP Customer Activity Repository includes functionality that allows you to achieve a
near real-time view on inventory in your business. Typically, your inventory information
is stored and managed in your SAP ERP source system.

Use
Some examples of how inventory counts in SAP ERP are updated include:

 Processing of sales documents: sales documents include information on what

items and in what quantity are sold, and the inventory counts are adjusted
accordingly.

 In-store operations, such as the entry of a goods receipt: as the store

receives goods, the inventory counts are increased by the received amount.

 POS transaction sales data received from SAP POS DM or SAP Customer
Activity Repository: data on what items and in what quantity are sold in brick-
and-mortar stores is posted to SAP ERP at regular intervals. SAP ERP inventory
counts are updated accordingly.

This particular type of update does not necessarily occur frequently enough to
obtain a near real-time view on your current inventory.

 Support for structured articles: splits the structured articles of type sales
set from POS Unprocessed Sales into their components and reports the
unprocessed quantities of the components.

 Support for retail-specific availability information and sourcing

information across all sales and communication channels.

Omnichannel Article Availability

Omnichannel article availability provides retail-specific availability information and

sourcing information to your customers. This information is identical and consumable
across all sales and communication channels (points of sale, online, mobile, call
centers) and provides a consistent customer experience.
It supports the following sales scenarios:

 Click-and-ship scenario

 Click-and-collect scenario

Note
For more information, see Omnichannel Article Availability and Sourcing.

Inventory Visibility Analytics in SAP Customer Activity Repository

SAP Customer Activity Repository contains several SAP HANA virtual data models
(VDMs) that allow you to have a more accurate view on the current status of your
inventory.

Current Inventory Position: Processed and Unprocessed Sales

The Current Inventory Position: Processed and Unprocessed Sales VDM combines the
following data:

 Current inventory counts, accessed by the repository from a source SAP ERP
system.

For more information, see Usage of External Data by SAP Customer Activity
Repository.

 Unprocessed sales data, collected in a dedicated database table

(/POSDW/TLOGUS) using a worklist.

For more information, see Creating Worklists for POS Transactions.

Cross Company Stock In Transit

The Cross Company Stock In Transit VDM assesses purchase order data, originating
from a source SAP ERP system, to provide visibility on stock that is currently in transit
between the various locations in your business when these locations are assigned to
different company codes.

Intraday Forecasts

As an additional option to inventory visibility analytics, you can also generate intraday
demand forecasts for your products. Knowing how your products will sell over the
course of a day allows you to enhance your stock projections and in-store processes
accordingly. For more information, see Generate Intraday Forecasts.
