SAP CAR

SAP Customer Activity Repository is a foundation that collects transactional data that was previously
spread over multiple independent applications in diverse formats. The repository provides a common
foundation and a harmonized multichannel transaction data model for all consuming applications.

Retailers can use SAP Customer Activity Repository to gradually transform their system landscapes
from traditional database technology to the revolutionary, in-memory database technology.

SAP Customer Activity Repository includes the following features:

 POS Data Transfer and Audit (POS Data Management)

 Multichannel Sales Repository (MCSR)
 Multichannel Sales Analytics
 Inventory Visibility Analytics
 On-Shelf Availability
 Predictive capabilities, leveraging the Demand Data Foundation (DDF) and Unified Demand
Forecast (UDF)

Business Transactions

The POS transaction data model is the most important business object in the POS Inbound
Processing Engine (PIPE). At the POS, different kinds of business transactions can be recorded by
a cash register, for example:

 POS sales

 Cash pay-in/pay-out

 Inventory Adjustments (for example, spoilage or unexpected goods receipt)

 Register closing (for example, count cash amount in the till)

 Statistical events (for example, cash drawer opened, store opening, and cashier log on)

Unified Demand Forecast (UDF) is the module in SAP Customer Activity Repository that provides
the demand modeling and forecasting services:

Demand Data Foundation

Demand Data Foundation (DDF, software component RTLDDF) is the module in SAP Customer
Activity Repository that provides the consuming applications installed on top of SAP Customer
Activity Repository with planning, analysis, and forecasting capabilities.

DDF runs on the SAP HANA Platform, which stores transactional data and master data. DDF allows
for the implementation of transactional (OLTP) and analytical (OLAP) use cases. DDF also supports
UDF.
