Installations.

After delivering of the cabinet at site and place it on slab, wire termination follows. Under this
section, will review termination of both armoured cable and alarm cable.

Armoured cable termination

On the rectifier, there is AC input CB where power cable from generator is terminated at.
Below is where and how the cable is terminated.

Circuit Breaker Off

Armored cable from DG

Note: “The circuit breaker is on where indicators are red and

off when they are green. It`s operated by either pushing in or
pulling out”.

Caution: Before any attempt to power on the rectifier, ensure that the cabinet is properly
grounded. Cooling fan connected and working.

Battery compartment can accommodate up to three strings of lead acid batteries or nine
strings of Leoch 48V 100Ah lithium-ion batteries. Cabinet has three shelves for batteries
storage, each shelf is installed with DB with 125A CBs.
Arrange the batteries in the cabinet and use the pre-installed link wire from DBCBs to
terminate. After battery installed, secure them with ant theft screw which as well comes with
the cabinet.

Configurations.
On commissioning, below explained configuration need to be carried out. Configuration will
involve initial setup of the controller, parameter setup and alarm ports configurations.

Initial Controller Setup

The SMU/ Controller comes with default settings which includes, password and IP address.
These you might need to change them to recommended setup as explained under this
section.

Default parameter change.

IP Address: 192.168.0.10 , this will be changed to 192.168.100.102

User Name : Admin , remains as it`s

Password: Changeme , this will be changed to Helios123

First time log into controller will require the use of the default parameter mentioned above.

1. Connect the SMU to your laptop using a straight LAN cable

2. Change laptop network as below and press OK.

Navigate to web and type

in IP as then proceed
unsafe to login window.

External Alarm Configuration

Alarm Lay Out.
Alarm and signal cable termination from rectifier to BTS is done at SMU card where there is
crone block.

Under this section, it will be elaborated in summary how each of the alarm and signal In/Out
from SMU is configured in the controller.
From rectifier, HT we monitor three alarms which are High Battery Temperature, Rectifier
System Fail as well as BTS Battery Low. Termination on crone block is done as above, though
someone can choose to configure any Alarm relay for certain alarm output.

To open alarm menu: Navigate System Settings (1)>Alarm Parameters (2-3)>Site Unit (4). On
site Unit, click the dropdown menu and select equipment type in where you want to configure
alarm.
Rectifier System Failure Alarm
We want this alarm to be triggered under situation where one or more modules fail, AC SPD
Fail, Mains Fail, High Temperature in the cabinet.
Configuration is done in Rectifier Group i.e., after clicking the drop down, select Rectifier
group and Confirm (5).

(6)

Here there are abundant of option to chose but for our purpose, we will select only few as
function to the Rectifier system Failure.

After selecting an input to the rectifier system failure,

It follows that the function need to be assigned to a
relay. Here, relay One is chosen for rectifier alarm.
After clicking select, the tab on the right will open,
click the dropdown and select YES to activate the
relay with the rectifier missing signal.
Similar is done to the rest of the Select(circled)
Click OK After to save changes
After everything is done, save all changes clicking
Submit(6) button.

Parameter Configuration (For External Alarms)

It`s fact that some of the output alarm work with the system monitoring system operating
parameter e.g., temperature and bus voltage.
Here it will be elaborate where the settings for Bus low voltage and High Temperature
threshold.
Bus Voltage Threshold

Monitoring>Digital Power>DC Output Distribution>Running Parameter, put the settings as in

large triable then click submit.
You may as well refer to SOP or SPA for the settings.

Battery/Cabinet Temperature Threshold

Navigate:Monitoring>Sampling Equipment>UIM>Running Parameter, put the settings as in

large red rectangle then click submit.
You may as well refer to SOP or SPA for the temperature threshold settings.

Hybrid Configuration.
Under this section you will be introduced to how and where hybrid configuration is done. As
other common system operates, here we will configure to start generator by Voltage and stop
by Time.
Genset Start

To activate the generator, start by voltage function:

Navigate: Monitoring>Genset Summary>Running Parameter>On Start Genset by Voltage,
enable this feature by clicking the dropdown and select Enable.
Then Click Submit to save changes. Proceed with below

Proceed and set the voltage at which you want the generator to start at. Consult SPA for this
setting.
Genset Stop

Navigate: Monitoring>Genset Summary>Running Parameter>On Timed Genset On/Off,

enable this feature by clicking the dropdown and select Enable, set the Hrs of which you
want DG to Run after hybrid exit before it stops then Submit to save the changes.
Note: Generator will stop only when the batteries are full charged, and the gen run signal is
active
