supplier receipt?
The following information of the fuel shall be available:
Density, viscosity, temperature as delivered, water, sulfur
content, flash point and so on.

11 Tell us briefly about the working principles of the purifier,

the oil water separator.
A: Purifier: The different gravity of two types of liquids:
water and oil.
under the action of centrifugal force the water will move the
outside of the bow while the oil, which is smaller in gravity,
shall move toward the center of the bow. This makes the
separation of the two liquids.
B. Oily water separator:
(1) Pump bilge water into first chamber: water-oil mixture
passes between inclined plates, the oil is lighter, so it floats,
10
the water is heavier, so it is at the bottom and enters 2nd
chamber
(2) At 2nd chamber, the water go through a fine filter
separation of water and oil,
(3) Water with oil content below 15ppm will be discharged
overboard and the oil was drained into sludge tank from 1 st &
2nd Chamber.

12 Why do you need to take lube oil sample for analysis?

During engine operation, the quality of the lubricant is
reduced, the bearings of the engine are worn, and metal
particles exist in the lubricant. Therefore, it is necessary to
analysis the lubricant every 3 months, to assess the properties
of the lubricant, and the condition of the engine bearings.

13 How to operate incinerator? What kind of garbage can not

be burned in the incinerator?
1. Drain water for sludge oil tank
2. Heating the sludge oil in the tank up to 90 0C to redue the
water content in sludge oil tank;
3. Start the incinerator. At the beginning, combustion sludge
oil with diesel oil, when the burner of incinerator is hot
enough, stop supplying diesel oil.
Attention: the temperature in combustion cannot be higher
than the limit temperature of the incinerator (usually not more
than 1200C).
The following garbage can not be burned in the incinerator:
- Any containers which have contained gases,
11
- The materials that may produce harmful gases;
- The materials that may produce high temperature and
prolonged incineration of such materials that may cause
damage to the incinerator.

should you be careful about?
During the keep watching, I have to take care of all the
parameters of the machines in operation: the main engine,
generator engine, the boiler, ....If there is any abnormal
parameter, I must find the cause and find the way to solve. If
it's out of my control, I have to report CE

15 When do you have to call the C/E go to the engine room?

In emergency situations such as fire, explosion and flooding
etc;
If the trouble happen of some devices can cause damage to the
main machine, generator engine, monitoring system or
governor

16 What is your position (Station) in the Muster Lists? For

example, during the fire fighting, abandon vessel, oil
pollution prevention etc.
