1. Maintenance Software

The maintenance software of JCY-1800/1850 is a PC-based application. It serves the purpose of configuring and
inspecting the product at the factory. On board the ship, it helps users to install the JCY-1800/1850, settings, operational
check, and to find the causes of malfunctions, if any.

1) Software name:

JCY1800-maint.exe

2) Language used for display:

English

3) Characters used for entry:

English one-byte characters only


The number of characters that can be inputted is limited by each entry field.
Any character over the maximum allowable number is rejected.

4) Installation of the maintenance software:

Use “setup.exe” for installing this software to the maintenance PC.


Refer to Paragraph 16 for the installation method of this software.

Windows Xp

6) PC:

Minimum requirements for a lap top PC:


•CPU: 1GHz or more
•Memory: 512Mbytes or more
•PCMCIA card slot: CF card as a data backup medium of VDR/S-VDR (attached a card adapter to the RCU)
•Communication I/F: Ethernet (10/100Mbps)
•Screen resolution : 1024×768 (XGA) or more
•Display font : Small size font

7) Personal Firewall

In using the personal computer which enables the personal firewall function, use the maintenance software after
disabling it.

Personal Firewall
A personal firewall is a filtering facility of LAN communication link attached to OS (Windows Xp) and the
software for a virus countermeasure.
When a personal firewall is enable.
The VDR/S-VDR becomes impossible to communicate to the maintenance PC by a firewall function.

8) Other requirements for maintenance:

LAN cable (Builds in the RCU.)


→Makes LAN connection from the Maintenance PC to the HUB unit of the RCU.

Connect the Maintenance PC to any port in


“VDR-LAN”.

2.1. Starting the Maintenance software

2.1.1. Starting procedure


1) To load the maintenance software, double click the “Maintenance Software” icon on a desktop.
2) The maintenance Software starts and then the Login screen will appear.

2.1.2.1. Selecting setup system (“Setup Equipment”)


Select a setup system from VDR, S-VDR or RMS.

2.1.2.2. Entering Worker, Company and Password (“Register Information”)


1) Register Information
Enter the worker information, which will be recorded onto the VDR/S-VDR.
• Worker name
• Company name

2) Password
Enter a password, it is indicated with “*”.
The password for field engineer is "jrcvdr" in a small letter.

2.1.2.3. Selecting Ethernet adapter


The Maintenance software will detect an Ethernet adapter in a PC automatically.
When the PC has more than one Ethernet adapter, select the adapter interface for connecting to the VDR/S-VDR
with wired LAN.

Many of recent laptop PC has not only wire LAN but also a wireless LAN.
Select the adapter for the wired LAN.

2.1.2.4. Adding IP address for VDR/S-VDR


Check the IP address and the Subnet mask which are registered to Ethernet adapter.
The IP address for VDR/S-VDR maintenance is added. (192.168.110.200)

The IP address added for VDR/S-VDR maintenance is deleted by shutting the maintenance
software.

2.1.2.5. Login
Click the [Next] button.
When succeeding to login to the VDR/S-VDR, “HOME screen” will appear.

2.2. Quitting the Maintenance software

2.2.1. Check before exit

Confirm the following items before logout when the installation is finished
1. All Entry lamps shall light green in the System screen.
2. All Diagnosis lamps shall light green in the System screen.
3. Any error event shall not occur on real time Event monitor.
4. The downloaded data from the capsule should be played back rightly.
5. The copied data from the CF card should be played back rightly.

2.2.2. Quitting procedure


Click the [Log out] button on the left side of each screen.

The maintenance software is shut down after logging out from the VDR/S-VDR.

Select for checking recorded data on the VDR/S-VDR.


The Playback software is loaded.

3.2.3. Option PC

Select for setting up a real time monitor system.

* It is only an enable/disable setup of outputting a real-time monitor data.


Refer to the "Real-time monitor system installation manual" for details.

3.2.4. Update

Select for updating a program of each unit.


• MCB (Boot program/Application program)

* Update of FGB program can be performed from the menu of a SYSTEM screen.

4.1. Selecting the installation

To configure the VDR/S-VDR, click the [Installation] button.


The “SYSTEM” screen for system (VDR/S-VDR/RMS) selected at log-in will appear.

4.2. Receiving a configuration data and starting a diagnosis function

4.2.1. Receiving a configuration data of RCU


Start a maintenance operation from receiving a configuration data.

1) Click the [Receive] button.

2) Confirm the completion of reception with a progress bar.

4.2.2. Starting the diagnosis function


The state of VDR/S-VDR system and OK/NG of receiving data can be displayed by the color of
“Diagnosis” lamps. A diagnostic result is displayed as follows.
● (Green): OK
● (Red): NG
● (Orange): Under a diagnosis

1) Click the [Diagnosis] button.

2) Confirm that the color of [Diagnosis] button changes a green color.

* When the [Diagnosis] button is clicked during operating a diagnosis function, it is stopped.

4.3. Sensor connection setup

4.3.1. Setting connection

Enable / Disable of each sensor connection can be set up.

1) Each channel
Enter a check mark into the check box of connected CH.

y Disable: [ ] (unchecked)

Caution) Remove the mark from the check box when sensor connection setup is changed (enable to disable)
temporary. In not connecting, delete a setup data with reference to the 4.3.3.3th clause.
If a setup data remains even if it removes a mark from a check box, a setup data for recording the same
data may not be unable to be set to other CH.

4.3.2. Starting detail setup

The detailed setup window of each channel is displayed.

1) Selecting CH
Click a radio button of setting sensor channel.

2) Click the [Detail] button on Sensor section, a detail setup window is displayed.

4.3.3. Selecting a recording data

Select the connection equipment and recording data according to the following procedure.
The initial value for receiving the data of the equipment chosen is set up automatically on the detail setting window.

4.3.3.1. In the case of new setting

Select a “recording item” from the pull-down menu.


Click the [Next] button.

Select connected “equipment” from the pull-down menu.

Select the “Other”, when there is no appropriate item which should be set up
Enter an appropriate data for connected equipment on a "Data" tab screen.

Caution) In case of a recording data item to set up is not displayed:


Object data are registered into other channels. It is necessary to clear a setup of CH registered.
Setting data are not cleared by connection disable. Refer to the following procedure for deleting setup data.

4.3.3.2. When setting data is changed

• In case of changing the detail setup data registered:


Choose the “No” (Default) of radio button and click the [Next] button.

• In case of changing the selected “Recording item” and selected “Equipment”:


Choose the “Yes” of radio button and click the [Next] button.

4.3.3.3. When registered setup data are deleted

Enter the check mark into the check box of lower "delete information", and click the [Next] button.
A registered setup data is deleted.

In the following cases, it is required to delete the setting data of CH which are not connected.

Example) a shipment setup is a default setting for recording a heading data from CH4 by NMEA.
Since the heading data is outputted with the step signal, it should be connected to CH33 (NSK).

1) Setup error
If a setup data remains even if it removes a check mark from a check box of the CH4, a following error
dialog will be displayed at checking mark to the CH33.

2) Setup procedure
Delete the setup data of the CH4 according to upper procedure.
Enter the check mark into the check box of CH33.
Enter setup data for receiving the heading data into detail window of CH33.

4.3.4. Detail setup window of sensor (standard)

4.3.4.1. Identification TAB screen

Set an identification data of connected equipment

1) Equipment
Enter the name of the connecting equipment. (GPS, Echo sounder, etc.)
* When except “Other” is selected, a default equipment name is entered automatically.

2) Model
Enter the model name of the connecting equipment.

3) Manufacturer
Enter the name of the manufacturer of the connecting equipment.

4) Serial No.
Enter the serial number of the connecting equipment.
* The old equipment by which the serial number is not displayed also exists. In that case, enter "unknown" into
the Serial No. column.

Check the entry data, when initial values are entered as record item selected in pre-procedure.
Change entry data, when required.
Enter a setup data when “Other” is selected as record item in pre-procedure.

4.3.4.2.2. Communication parameters and Sentence format

Set the communication parameter and Set the sentence format.


Once the type is selected, this parameter is automatically set by default. There is no need to change this value.

1) Header
Enter the header character.
“$” is entered in case of connecting to the general sensor units.
In case of connecting to the AIS, enter “!” as the header character.
When “!” is entered, the DAU receives the NMEA sentences with “$” and “!” as header.

2) Delimiter
Enter the delimiter in the form of codes. The delimiter is expressed as codes not as characters.
“<CR><LF>“can be codified as “OD OA”.

3) Maximum sentence length


Set the maximum length of the data sentence. Any data sentence of which length exceeds this maximum
sentence length is rejected and an error is reported. The maximum length of the NMEA sentence is 82Byte.

4) Maximum time interval of receiving


Set the maximum time interval of receiving. If the time taken to receive a data sentence exceeds this
maximum time interval, the sentence is rejected and an error is reported.
For example, suppose ZDA, DTM, and GGA are set to be received. If the time taken to receive all ZDA,
DTM and GGA exceeds the maximum time interval, all the information is rejected and an error is reported.

4.3.4.2.3. Recording data

Whether a sentence is recorded in the VDR/S-VDR is determined by the sentence ID. Any sentence of which ID is
different from the specified sentence ID is discarded and is not recorded in the VDR/S-VDR.

1) Recording item
Select record item from the pull-down menu.
Select “Other”, when there is no corresponding entry.

2) Sentence ID
Select sentence ID from the pull-down menu.
Enter a sentence ID, when there is no corresponding entry.

y Type in 7 characters maximum, starting from the next to the header characters.

In case of NMEA sentence:

y The talker ID (2 characters) can be entered along with the sentence ID (3 characters).
y An uncertain character also can be entered using “?”.
y Enter as many characters as you like (up to 7 characters).
y At least, include the sentence ID (3 characters).
y Examples: setting sentence ID for filtering ZDA sentences of GPS. ( all OK )
▫ GPZDA ▫ GPZDA?? ▫ ??ZDA ▫ ??ZDA??

In case of option unit sentence:


y A/D : VRXDR
y DSC (NCT-72/63) : ? (Since all sentences are recorded, "?" is set up as a wildcard.)

3) Watch
The NMEA sentence to record and the NMEA sentence to watch can be set up individually.
Set the Watch function of each NMEA sentences to enable or disable.
The VDR/S-VDR will generate the error alarm when the NMEA sentences set as “Enable” are not received
within interval time. The VDR/S-VDR will not generate the error alarm when the NMEA sentences set as
“Disable” are not received within interval time.

y Enable: [9] (checked)


y Disable: [ ] (unchecked)

When the NMEA sentence ID is registered, checks will be entered by a default.

y In case of set to disable


Setting as “Disable” is effective when a sensor unit do not transmit some NMEA sentences periodically.
Set as “Enable” to only the NMEA sentence received periodically.

4.3.4.3. Checking setup data


Confirm that there is no blank in setting data.

Defect in setting entry (Model, Serial number, etc.) as warning can be displayed to the
“Entry” lamp.

● (Green): All entries are inputted.

● (Yellow): The blank entry remains.


Look for a blank entry and input a setup data to blank entry.

4.3.4.4. Transmitting setup data


Transmit the setup data to the RCU.

• Transmit
Click the [SET] button.

• Cancel
Click the [Close] button.

4.3.4.5. Real Time Monitor

Monitor the NMEA sentence data which is collected in the RCU on real time, and check the sentence specified by the
installation drawings is collected correctly.

1) Procedures
START: Click the [Start] button.
* Real time monitor is automatically started at the opening window.

STOP: Click the [Stop] button.

2) Selecting the monitor data type.


Click the radio button of data type (“RCV Data” /”REC Data”) to monitor.

● “RCV Data”: Monitors all data which the RCU receives.


The sentence data which is not recorded on the VDR/S-VDR is also displayed.

● “REC data”: Monitors the sentence data which is recorded in the VDR/S-VDR.
The sentence which is not recorded is not displayed even if it has received.
The monitor data is displayed by the sentence format currently recorded in the VDR/S-VDR.

4.3.4.6. Result of diagnosis


Confirm that The VDR/S-VDR receives a recording data.

As for the diagnostic result of the [Sensor] section, a result is displayed to the "Diagnosis" lamp
at setting.

* Since other sections need to be rebooted after transmitting setup data to the RCU, a
"Diagnosis" result cannot be indicated with a lamp at setting.

● (Green): The VDR/S-VDR receives a recording data

● (Red): The VDR/S-VDR does not receive a recording data.


Check a receiving data by real time monitor.

● (Orange): Under a diagnosis

* The diagnostic function needs to be operating.


A "Diagnosis" lamp becomes a blank display when the diagnostic function is not operating.
A diagnostic function can be started with the [Diagnosis] button on “SYSTEM” screen.

Setup screen of GPS is a special screen for connecting two GPS.


Sub GPS setting is required when connecting two GPS to one port via a switcher.

Set an identification data of connected GPS.

Set up the “GPS selection” when the “GPS (main+sub)” is selected as a connection equipment.

1) Switch position
Select the logic of dry contact signal which is outputted by a GPS switcher.
The GPS switcher is connected to “TB406 PI-3” which is a terminal in the RCU.
The VDR/S-VDR records the GPS equipment (main or sub) currently recorded as EVENT.

4.3.5.3. GPS Data TAB screen

1) Date and Time


The sentence which acquires “Date and Time” data is a "ZDA" sentence as standard.
When the GPS does not output a ZDA sentence, change the sentence to record into "RMC".

2)Datum
When the GPS does not output a DTM sentence, clear the DTM setting.

Even if it does not input the initial value of a heading from the OPU, the initial value of a heading can be inputted
from on the Heading TAB screen.

1) Measured Value
The current value of a heading is displayed.
(The value displayed on this screen is the same as the value displayed on OPU.)

* A heading value is not displayed at stopping the real time monitor.


Start the real-time monitor in "Rec data" mode.

2) Initial Value
Click the [Send] button after inputting an initial value.
The inputted initial value is registered into the RCU.
* An "Initial Value" and "Measured Value" display the same value at opening this screen.
When the correct heading value is displayed, click the [Send] button without inputting an initial value.

3) Checking the heading value


Check that the correct heading value is displayed on the "Measured Value".

4.5. Option unit (NCT-72/63) connection setup

In order to record a dry contact signal and an analog signal by the VDR/S-VDR, the Digital Signal Converter (DSC:
NCT-72/63) of an option unit is connected to the VDR/S-VDR. Set up the DSC in the following procedure.

4.5.1. Setting connection

CH 13, 14, 15, and 16 can connect the NCT-72/63.


Enable / Disable of the DSC connection can be set up to the above-mentioned channels.

The condition of the equipment shown by OPEN/CLOSE of a dry contact signal is set up.

1) Alarm
Select the inputting dry contact state (OPEN/CLOSE) when the connected equipment is a normal state.

2) Door
Select the inputting dry contact state (OPEN/CLOSE) when the connected door is open.

● creating sentence data

Select each factor which constitutes sentence data.

1) Dry contact information


Select the dry contact information from the pull-down menu of each category according to the connected signal.

Although categories are prepared to 3 at the maximum, number of category to be set up is automatically
determined by selected data.
Be sure to select a dry contact information from the pull-down menu which can be set up.
An unnecessary setup category is in an input prohibition state.

* A selection setup from a tree structure


The tree structure displayed on a left screen is the dry contact signal which can be registered.
Sentence data can be set up in double-clicking the data of tree structure.

A signal of the same kind needs a setup of an identification number.
Select the identification number since the pull-down menu will be displayed active.

Be careful not to select the same numeric value. The same sentence data will be created

3) Registering sentence data


Click the [SET] button after all categories are selected and comment is inputted.
The sentence according to the contents of selection is created, and it is added to a setup file.

4.5.5.4.2. Deleting and editing a sentence data registered


The sentence registered into the setup file can be deleted.

1) Selecting a sentence
Double-click the sentence displayed on the list.
It checks that CH number for deletion is displayed.

2) Deleting a sentence
Click the [Delete] button.

2) Editing a sentence
New-set up a sentence data after deletion.

Select a state of the dry contact signal (Open/Close) at the "Active".

Set up a sub telegraph position data.
Setup procedure is the same as “Engine telegraph position”.

Set up an operation position data of engine telegraph.

up an increment number. It can set up from "01" to "04."

2) Registering sentence data


Click the [SET] button.
An ETL sentence is registered.

The configuration file created to NCT-72/63 is transmitted when all setup is completed.

1) Transmit the configuration file.


Click the [Send] button.

2) The setup screen is completed and it returns to the Transmit/Receive screen of a configuration file.
The configuration file is transmitted automatically to the NCT-72/63.

3) Save the configuration file


In saving the configuration file of NCT-72/63, it should be saved before transmitting the file.
Click the [Save As] button, and save the configuration file.

4.5.5.7. Transmitting the configuration file

1) Check that setting data are transmitted in a communication link Monitor display.

2) Completion/failure of reception is displayed in a dialog. Check that completion dialog is displayed.

3) When transmission is incomplete, click the [Send] button once again.

Enter a diagnostic result manually.

1) Dialog for entering a diagnostic result


Click the [DSC Check] button.
The dialog for entering a diagnostic result will appear.

2) Connection of dry contact signals


Check that monitor icons (lamp, door) change according to the change of state of dry connected contact signals.
Enter the diagnostic result to radio button (Good/No Good).

3) Sentence setup
Check that the logic of a dry contact signal is correct.
• Alarm Normal: Green lamp / Abnormal: Red lamp
• Door A door icon means a state of door (Open/Close).

4.5.6.2.3. Calculating a coefficient

Set up the coefficient of the formula this converts the output value (%) of the ACB into a real value (displayed on a
equipment).

1) Selecting CH
Select an analog channel to set up.

2) Setting a minimum value


Operate the analog signal output equipment so that output a minimum value.

• STEP1: Input the minimum value displayed on the equipment.

• STEP2: Input the A/D conversion value.


Click the [Receive] button. A/D conversion value is inputted automatically.
* Inputting manually is also possible.

• STEP3: Click the [Set] button.

2) Setting a maximum value


Operate the analog signal output equipment so that output a maximum value.

• STEP4: Input the maximum value displayed on the equipment.

• STEP5: Input the A/D conversion value.


Click the [Receive] button. A/D conversion value is inputted automatically.
* Inputting manually is also possible.

• STEP6: Click the [Set] button.

3) Checking calculated data


Check the conversion formula is correct.

• STEP7: Check that the conversion value on “Check value” and the real value on the equipment are
same.
Click the [Check] button. The conversion value is displayed.
When the conversion value is not correct, redo from STEP1.

• STEP8: Set the coefficient of the formula.


Click the [Apply] button.

4.6.1. Setting connection

Enable / Disable of Radar connection and the FGB can be set up.

1) Each channel
Enter a check mark into the check box of “Sub radar” in case of connecting two Radar units.
y Enable: [9] (checked)
y Disable: [ ] (unchecked)

* Since Main Radar is the equipment connected generally, it cannot clear a check mark.

2) Frame Grabber Board (FGB)

• S-VDR (JCY-1850)
FGB is an option board in the S-VDR.
Therefore, the default setting of FGB is a disable.
When the FGB is installed into the RCU, Enter a check mark into the check box of “FGB”

• VDR (JCY-1800)

・ VDR(JCY-1800)
FGB is a standard board in the VDR.
Therefore, the default setting of FGB is an enable and it cannot clear a check mark.

The setup file of FGB can be downloaded and uploaded.


The setup file of FGB is saved in the “FGB_Util¥CKA137-JCY1800” folder under an install folder of maintenance

4.6.3.1.3. Two Radar images recording mode

Select a recording mode in case of connecting two Radars

1) Recording a image switched


The switching record mode is selected in standard system.

Select the “Single Record by Switch” from the pull-down menu.

2) Recording both images


The both record mode can be selected in the option system.
The option system means a large storage capacity of a capsule and a CF card.
Both Radar images can be recorded in the large storage capacity.

Select the “Dual Record” from the pull-down menu.

4.6.3.1.4. In case of using Radar Interface Unit

The Radar Interface Unit should be installed, when the display resolution of connected Radar unit is a UXGA size.

1) Setting a Radar interface unit mode


• When the Radar Interface Unit is installed, select the “NWP-46” from the pull-down menu.
• Enter a serial number of NWP-46.

*Caution: The Radar interface unit has a cooling fan. Fan alarm is neglected by the “None” setting.

4.6.3.2.1. Select signal

When two radars are connected and VDR/S-VDR record one of two radar images by switching, set the
switching signal.

1) Dry contact
Select the “Dry contact”, when recording channel is switched by dry contact signals outputted from a switcher.

2) NMEA
Select the “NMEA”, when recording channel is switched by the PJRC sentence outputted from the JRC radar.

3) None (Auto)
Select the “None”, when the switching signal is not connected.
Recording channel is switched by detecting a RGB signal.
When radar images are received from both channels, the CH1 image is recorded.

4.6.3.2.2. NMEA

Sensor channel which receives a PJRC sentence for switching is set up automatically.
Confirm that a Radar connection channel is displayed.

4.6.3.2.3. Dry Contact

Select the logic of the dry contact which is outputted by a switcher.


AUTO mode is selected when both of dry contact signals are the same logic.

Look for a blank entry and input a setup data to blank entry.

2) Image Quality lamp


Result of judgment to image quality is displayed to the “Image Quality” lamp.

● (Yellow): An image quality is not judged.


Open the "Image quality check" screen and enter a result
of judgment.

reboot of RCU.

STOP: Click the [Stop] button.

3) Volume
Adjust sound volume by a slide bar.
Caution: When sound does not come out from a loudspeaker, check that the speaker output of PC is OFF or sound

1) Serial No.
Enter the serial number of the capsule.

2) Next Replacement
The expiry date of the battery in the beacon of capsule is displayed.
Enter new expiry date of the battery in the beacon, when you exchange the beacon unit.
The expiry date of a battery is indicated on the beacon label.

Check that the VDR/S-VDR is operated in a blackout.

1) Starting blackout test


Click the [Test Start] button.
Push the [BLACKOUT TEST] switch on the panel of PSU in the RCU for 5 seconds.
A result is displayed on a “Test result” lamp.

2) Result of diagnosis
A result is displayed to the “Test result” lamp.

4.9.2.7.1. Internal Dry Contact

General dry contact signals can be inputted, and general dry contact signal data can be recorded as NMEA sentence
data. It is used when the dry contact signal which connects is three or less contacts. The sentence data recorded when
a dry contact opens, and the sentence data recorded when a dry contact closes is set up.

Caution: The dry contact signals for "switching Radar" and "switching GPS" are connected to these input ports.
When using this port as switching, it cannot use as a general dry contact signal input port.

4.9.2.7.2. Setup
1) Enable/Disable
Enable / Disable of each PI port connection can be set up.
Enter a check mark into the check box of connected port.

2) Header of sentence data


Enter the header of output sentence data.

3) OPEN sentence data


The sentence data outputted when a dry contact signal opens is inputted.
Enter the sentence data following a header.

4) CLOSE sentence data


The sentence data outputted when a dry contact signal closes is inputted.
Enter the sentence data following a header.

The sentence data recorded can be monitored.

Transmit the setup data to the RCU.

On a SYSTEM screen, a connection setup can be entered, and the operating state of a VDR/S-VDR system and the
condition (good/no) of a received signal can be checked.

Functions on the SYSTEM screen

● Enable / Disable of each connection channel can be set up.


● Detail setting of each connection channel and VDR/S-VDR operation can be set up.
● The setup information of each connection equipment can be displayed.

5.1. Common button on the SYSTEM screen

How to operate the function of the common button on the SYSTEM screen

1) [Receive] button
The Maintenance software receives the system configuration data of RCU
Click the [Receive] button, progress of data reception is displayed on the progress bar arranged at the lower of the
screen. The display of system screen will be updated by the received system configuration data.

2) [Diagnosis] button
Diagnosis function is controlled by the [Diagnosis] button.
Click the [Diagnosis] button, diagnosis function is started and the [Diagnosis] button becomes green.

3) [Set] button
It is used when setting up all system configuration information data.
Click the [Set] button, all configuration data is transmitted to the RCU.

* Set up the system configuration data of each section from the each detail setup window. It is unnecessary to use the
[Set] button on the System screen when the detail window is opened by revising setup data.
Use the [Set] button when all system configuration data should be set up or only the check box is revised.

4) [Reboot] button
It is used when rebooting the RCU.
Click the [Reboot] button, the RCU is operated by renewed system configuration data, after rebooting.
Wait until the communication link of Maintenance software and RCU is restarted.

5) [All Default] button


It is used when the system configuration data on the Maintenance software is initialized.
Initialized system configuration data is set up as the standard connection of the VDR/S-VDR.

6) [Alarm Mute] button


The [Alarm Mute] button is used to prohibit the ALARM BUZZER of OPU.
Click the [Alarm Mute] button. Even if an error occurs during a maintenance communication link, an ALARAM
BUZZER does not sound.
The color of [Alarm Mute] button becomes green while mute function is effective.
Click the green [Alarm Mute] button. Mute function is stopped.
Stop the mute function before exiting the Maintenance software.

7) [ACK] button ボタン


A function of [ACK] button on this screen and the function of [ACK] button on the OPU is a same.
The [ACK] button is used to stop the ALARM BUZZER.
When more than one error is detected, it should be pressed as many times as the number of the errors.

5.2. Sensor section


The equipment information and recording data registered by detailed setup of sensor is displayed.

Click the [Unit ID / Record item]/ [Manufacturer / Model] button.


Displayed information and displayed button name is changed.

* ID number is a error code which is displayed on the OPU.

5.3. Modified setup indicating


On a SYSTEM screen, when the setup data is modified, the modified item is indicated by red.
Furthermore, the button which should be operated to activate modification is indicated by red.

5.3.1. Connection setup, [SET] button


If the check box is changed, the item color is changed from black to red and the [Set] button blinks red.
The red indication means that the item data is not set up to the RCU yet.
The indications are returned from red to black after the revised data set up to the RCU.

5.3.2. [Reboot] button


The [Reboot] button blinks red when the RCU is rebooted for operating the modified setup data.
Click the [Reboot] button. The indications are returned from red to black after rebooting the RCU.

Caution: Even if the [Reboot] button blinks in red, it is not necessary to click immediately.
After all setup is completed, reboot the RCU, and check an operation of the VDR/S-VDR.

5.4.1. Diagnosis button


The receive data from a connection equipment and the operating state of the VDR/S-VDR are diagnosed, and the
diagnostic result is displayed on a lamp.
Click the [Diagnosis] button.
While a diagnostic function operates, the color of the [Diagnosis] button becomes green.
When the [Diagnosis] button is clicked during a diagnosis, a diagnostic function will stop.

5.4.2. Diagnosis lamp

Monitor the operation event of VDR/S-VDR to check that VDR/S-VDR system is working correctly.
The EVENT monitor can display a receiving EVENT data from the VDR/S-VDR.
Furthermore, the EVENT monitor can display EVENT Log files in the VDR/S-VDR additionally.

6.1. Starting

1) Click the [EVENT] button on the SYSTEM screen.

2) Select the display language of event data


Select English or Japanese with a radio button, and click the [OK] button.

3) Start the Event monitor


The EVENT monitor is started automatically.
If EVENT data are received, it will display on real time.

4) RCU reboots
When the RCU is rebooted by the [Reboot] button on the "SYSTEM" screen during operating the Event monitor, the
Event monitor can display the first event data after starting of the RCU.

Reboot the RCU for checking event data from starting of the RCU.

6.2. Modification of EVENT list display

Old event data can be displayed by downloading event log files from the RCU.
The event log files consist of event data recorded on the CF card by the RCU.

3) Old event data is added to the event list display.

6.2.2. Event list after last boot display


The event data list can be displayed after last boot of the RCU.
Use this function, when there is no necessity of checking older EVENT before last boot.

Monitor the NMEA sentence data, and check the sentence specified by the installation drawings is collected correctly.

7.2.1. Monitor conditions setup


Set up the monitor conditions.

When the PC of low specification is used, monitor every 1 CH.


If the monitoring of two or more CH(s) is carried out simultaneously, the rate of a CPU load becomes 100%,
and operation becomes impossible.
When operation is impossible, the task manager of Windows is started by <Alt>+<Ctrl>+ <Delete>.
Terminate the maintenance software.

7.2.1.1. Selecting the monitor channel

The monitor data is displayed by the sentence format currently recorded in the VDR/S-VDR.

“RCV data” monitor


It is used when the DAU begins receiving NG.
When wiring is reverse-connected, the data which carried out character transformation is displayed.

7.2.2. Monitor start and stop


1) Monitor start
Click the [START] button.
The monitoring channel indicator becomes Green.

2) Monitor stop
Click the [STOP] button.
The monitoring channel indicator returns Gray.

● “REC data”
The addition and deletion of the CH to the monitor can be operated freely.

● “RCV data”
Only independent CH can be monitored.

7.2.3. Monitor pause


1) Pause
Click the [Pause] button.

2) Restart
The [Pause] button is changed to the [PLAY] button during the pausing. Click the [PLAY] button.

7.2.4. Event clear


The monitoring window can be cleared.
Click the [Clear] button.

7.2.5. File save


Monitor data can be saved in the file.

1) Select a saving folder


Click the [Browse] button to select the saving folder.
The saving file name is being fixed to RtMonitor1.txt.

2) Save start
Click the [SAVE START] button.
The sentence data which is monitored can be saved in the text file.

3) Save stop
The [SAVE START] button is changed to the [SAVE STOP] button during the saving.
Click the [SAVE STOP] button.

7.2.6. Quit
1) Monitor stop
Stop all of the channel which is monitoring.

2) Quit
Click the [Close] button.

When the maintenance software is quitted, please make sure that a real –time monitor has stopped
Reboot RCU, when the maintenance software has been quitted without stopping a real-time monitor.
The output of real-time data stops.

7.3.1. Selecting the monitor channel


Click the selection button of CH to monitor.
▪ Audio1: MIC1-- MIC3
▪ Audio2: MIC4-- MIC6
▪ Audio3: MIC7-- MIC9
▪ VHF: VHF1-- VHF3

Select the CH to monitor. More than two CH cannot be played at the same time.

For each connecting unit (MIC1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9, VHF1,2,3), connect only one unit to check the operation.
→ Each monitor CH is mixed by 3 input signals. For checking that each unit is correctly working, it is
necessary to connect only one unit to monitor.

7.3.2. Monitor start and stop


1) Monitor start
Click the [Play] button.
The Audio of selected CH is outputted from speaker.
* Keep in mind that a sound is not outputted unless the PC speaker is "effective."

2) Monitor stop
Click the [Stop] button to stop monitoring.

The monitored sound is played about four second later than sound source.

7.3.3. Changing the monitor channel


Follow the following procedure, when changing the monitor CH.
Stop → Change monitor CH → Start

Click the [X] button on the upper right of the window after stop monitor.

7.4. Radar monitor


Monitor the Radar Image Monitor which is recorded in the FGB to check the operation is working correctly.

7.4.1. Operation
It is not necessary to operate it since the monitor is started automatically.
The image which the VDR/S-VDR is recording is displayed.
The image is updated in an interval of 15 seconds as well as a record interval.

The monitored image is displayed later than the record time several seconds

7.5. Dry Contact monitor


Monitor the dry contact data which is collected in the NCT-72/63, and check a dry contact state specified by
installation drawings is collected correctly. Be sure to check the collecting data of all channels.
This monitor analyzes the contents of NMEA sentence data outputted from the NCT-72/63, and a dry contact state is
indicating by an icon.

7.5.1. Monitor start


It is not necessary to operate it since the monitor is started automatically.
The monitoring channel indicator becomes Green.

7.5.2. Monitor display


In order to check the dry contact state by a monitor window, it is necessary to change the dry contact state.
The NMEA sentence is outputted from the NCT-72/63 at changing state of a dry contact.

A dry contact state is displayed with a lamp icon.
▪ Green lamp: A target status is normal.
▪ Red lamp: A target status is abnormal.

A dry contact state is displayed with a door icon.

▪ : A door is open.

▪ : A door is closing.

7.5.2.3. Engine Telegraph


The channel which connected the engine telegraph is displayed with yellow lamps.
Click any yellow lamps, and it will change to the window for an engine telegraph.

The present position is displayed by a green lamp on "Engine telegraph position", "Sub-telegraph position", and
"Operating location"
.
When the [Back] button is clicked, an engine telegraph window will be closed and it will return to a dry contact state
window.

The operating state of VDR/S-VDR is displayed in detail.


Check a detailed factor of error by this screen.
Although the system state is displayed in each category unit in the SYSTEM screen, all items can be displayed on this
system status screen.

8.3. Start System status display

8.3.1. When the diagnostic function is started


Since the diagnostic result is displayed, it is not necessary to operate it.
The [Diagnosis] button is a green display.

8.3.2. When the diagnostic function is stopped


When the diagnostic function has stopped, it is necessary to start a diagnostic function.
Click the [Diagnosis] button.
The [Diagnosis] button becomes a green display and a diagnostic result is displayed.

8.3.3. Stop the diagnostic function


Click the [Diagnosis] button during the diagnostic function operating.
The diagnostic function is stopped.

8.4. Diagnosis lamp of orange in normal operation


Even if the VDR/S-VDR is operating normally, some diagnosis lamps do not become a green.

1) Capsule
The “Capsule” section of the “Record Control” window
● “Write” lamp of “Config” partition
It becomes a green lamp display only immediately after transmitting configuration data.
If the RCU is rebooted, it will return to the orange display under diagnosis.

2) Microphone test
The “Audio” section of the “Record Control” window
● “Running test” lamps of “Microphone test”
A diagnostic lamp serves as an orange display under diagnosis until 12 hours pass and it carries out a
microphone test, after starting.
It is not necessary to check becoming a green lamp display at installation work.

8.5. System status data file


If the system configuration file (McbDataInfo.dat) saved at the report folder created after the completion of installation
is opened, the system state file (Status.dat) saved at the same folder can be opened automatically, and the diagnostic
result at that time can be displayed.
So the diagnostic result at that time can be reproduced under offline without connecting the VDR/S-VDR.

Refer to the 13th clause about the report folder.

8.5.1. Connection with the VDR/S-VDR


The system status file can not be opened during the communication link with the VDR/S-VDR, because the
Maintenance software receives a new system state data from the VDR/S-VDR.
Disconnect a LAN cable.

8.5.2. File
Open the system configuration file (McbDataInfo.dat).
Click the “Open” from the “File” pull down menu.

8.5.3. System status data display


Start the System status display function.
Click the [Diagnosis] button.
The system state data in selected file will be displayed.

The VDR/S-VDR can be controlled by the Maintenance software.

Click the “Control” of menu.

The MCB (VDR/S-VDR) and RMB (RMS) can be rebooted with remote control.

9.2.3. FGB maintenance mode


The MCB controls the FGB to record a image file during a VDR/S-VDR operating.
The FGB can not take maintenance while the MCB is communicating to the FGB with Ethernet link.
FGB maintenance mode means that the MCB disconnects the Ethernet link with the FGB.

* FGB-related functions make FGB maintenance mode start automatically.


It is not necessary to use this function.

1) Start
Click the [START] button.

2) Stop
Click the [Stop] button.

* Caution: Radar image can not be recorded during the FGB maintenance mode.
Be sure to stop this mode.

9.2.4. Initial Error Release


The Initial error (Error code: 01__) is released.

1) Click the [MCB] button.

9.2.5. Real Time Clock Setup


The date and time to the real time clock IC of the MCB or RMB can be confirmed and set up.

9.2.5.1. Display the date and time

1) Click the target unit button. ([MCB] button, [RMB] button)


The date and time of unit selected is displayed.

9.2.5.2. Set up the date and time

1) Click the target unit button. ([MCB] button, [RMB] button)


The date and time of unit selected is displayed.

2) Enter the date and time.

5) When the unit is rebooted, the entered date and time is registered.

It can be returned to the Normal mode when the update of the program has failed and does not operate as

9.3. Convert (Recorded sensor data to text file)

The recorded NMEA sentence data can be converted to a text file.


The NMEA sentence data is files saved in the CF card or downloaded from the capsule.

9.3.1. Starting
1) Click the "Convert" from the "Data" pull down menu on the system screen.

9.3.2. Converting to a text file


1) Select a “Log” folder
Click the [Browse] button, and select a “Log” folder which is root folder of saved log files in the recorded data.

2) Select a folder to save a text file


Click the [Browse] button, and select a folder to save a text file.

3) Start converting
Click the [Convert] button and then conversion is started.
Progress of converting is displayed by Progress bar.

4) Name of a text file


The name of a converted text file is a "recording start time".
It is saved on a selected folder.

10.2. Playback Software

The Launcher of Playback software starts.

The recorded data of VDR/S-VDR are saved on the Capsule and the CF card.
It is necessary to play back and check these both.
1) Capsule
The recorded data is downloaded from the Capsule to a maintenance PC via LAN.
2) CF card
The recorded data is copied from the CF card to a maintenance PC with card adaptor.

Check the recorded data of both a capsule and CF card at the end of installation.

Operating procedures is different with a capsule and CF card.


Play back the recorded data with reference to the procedure after the following page, and check the data.

Refer to the instruction manual of Playback software for details

10.3. Check recorded data


The recorded data is checked as follows:
• Check that all NMEA sentences are recorded.
• Check that radar images are recorded.
• Check that selected radar images are recorded in two radar connection system.
• Check that conversation in a bridge and wings is recorded
• Check that communication of a VHF transceiver is recorded

“FGB_Utility” software is useful for setup and tuning the Frame Grabber Board CKA-129/CKA-137. The setup menu
contain that the capture setup file and other file set the board. The tuning menu contains that sync polarity tuning,
horizontal/vertical position tuning, and sampling phase tuning.

11.1. Check the Radar image specifications


For proper capture setting, check the Radar image specifications (VESA format only). Check the item as
bellow.
Resolution: (ex. 1280x1024)
Vertical synchronous signal frequency (Refresh rate): (ex. 60 Hz)
Horizontal synchronous signal frequency: (ex. 75 kHz)

11.3.2. Horizontal position tuning


If the captured image shifted horizontal, tune the Horizontal position. If the captured image large shifted, tune by the
mouse. If the small shifted, tune by the manual.

11.3.2.1. By the mouse

a) Click the [Tuning (T)] -> [Horizontal POSI. Mouse] menu.


The following message appears.

b) Click the [OK] button on message box.


Automatically capture the image, and the following message appears.

c) Click the [OK] button on message box.


Message box disappear.

d) Click the horizontal edge of the image. Don’t care the Y coordinates.

Click the horizontal edge of the image.

The following message appears.

e) If execute horizontal position tuning at this point, click the [Yes] button. If retry to point the image, click the [No]
button and click the horizontal edge of the image.

Shifted the horizontal setup, and captured the image. The result message appears.

f) Click the [OK] button on message box.

11.3.2.2. By the manual

a) Click the [Tuning (T)] -> [Horizontal POSI. manual] menu.


The following message appears.

b) Click the [OK] button on message box.


Automatically captured the image and the following message appear.

c) If the image will be moved left, click the [Yes] button. If the image will be moved right, click the [No] button. If
will be end the tuning, click the [Cancel] button.
Shifted the horizontal setup, and captured the image. And the message appears.

d) Repeat the step c) to the right position.

11.3.3. Vertical position tuning


If the captured image shifted vertical, tune the Vertical position. If the captured image large shifted, tune by the
mouse. If the small shifted, tune by the manual. The vertical position tuning procedure is same as that the Horizontal
position tuning. Use the [Vertical POSI. Mouse] or [Vertical POSI. Manual] menu, and refer to Horizontal position
tuning procedure.

11.3.3.1. Sampling Phase tuning

If the captured image out of focus, tune the sampling phase. Normally, do the Phase AUTO turning. Phase AUTO
tuning execute on still image, so stop the Radar transmit.

a) Click the [Tuning (T)] -> [Phase AUTO] menu.


The following message appears.

b) Click the [OK] button on message box.


Phase AUTO tuning start, and 35 images captured for tuning. During the tuning, tuning process display on the left
bellow status bar. End the tuning, the result message appears.

c) click the [No (N)] button on message box.

12. Option System setup


The data output conditions for the real-time monitor system are set up.

12.1. Starting

12.1.1. Start on the SYSTEM screen


When the “SYSTEM” screen is displayed, move to the “HOME” screen.

Click the [HOME] button to move to the “HOME” screen.

12.1.2. Start on the HOME screen


“Option PC” of the Work section means the real-time monitor setup.

Click the [Option PC] button on the “HOME” screen.

12.2. Setup procedure

1) Receive a setup data.


Click the [Receive] button.
2) Input the setup data
Select the output data to the real-time monitor.
3) Transmit the setup data
Click the [Set] button.

12.3. Register Information


Registrant information entered on the Log-in screen is displayed.
Registrant information which is stored in the RCU is displayed at receiving the configuration data.
Registrant information is updated to the data entered on the "Log in" screen after setting up.

12.4. IP Address
The VDR/S-VDR outputs real-time data to the set-up IP address.
1) Option PC
Input the IP address of monitor PC.
2)FGB2
The setup is required when the real-time monitor must receive the image data as three or four screens. Refer to the
[Real time Monitor Installation] guide for details.

12.5. Real Time Monitor section


Enter the check mark into the check box of necessary data.
Usually, since all data are required by the real-time monitor, all effective channels are inputted check marks as default
setup.

1) Sensor section
Only Connection CH can be set up.
Enter a check mark into a check box of each channel which must output a NMEA monitor data.
The NMEA sentence data of checked CH are outputted.

2) Audio
Enter a check mark into a check box of “AUDIO” for outputting an audio monitor data.

3) FGB1
Enter a check mark into a check box of “FGB1” for outputting an image monitor data from the VDR/S-VDR.

4) FGB2
This setup is required when the real-time monitor must receive the image data as three or four screens.
Refer to the [Real time Monitor Installation] guide for details.

5) Enable button
When the [Enable] button is clicked, all monitor channels will become effective.
A check mark is inputted into all check boxes.

6) Disable button
When the [Disable] button is clicked, all monitor channels will become null.
A check mark is removed from all check boxes.

13. Report

When installation is completed, Create a result report using this function.

13.1. Starting

1) Click the [Report] button on the SYSTEM screen.


“Report” screen will appear.

13.1.1. Report
The report folder is created automatically. The report folder includes a setup file and so on as installation report.

The “Serial number of VDR/S-VDR (MBxxxxxx) _ VDR_report” folder is created on the Desktop of PC
automatically.
Compress this folder, and upload the compressed files to the “Ship list” on the Marine service WEB.

Confirm the following items before logout when the installation is completed

• System configuration file


• FGB setup files for image capture
• System status file
• Event log files
• Radar image file

14. Program update


Update the program of MCB, ARB RMB and FGB in the RCU.

14.1. Program update of MCB, ARB and RMB


Update the program of MCB (CDJ-2304), ARB (CHA-387) and RMB (CDK-287).

14.1.1. Starting the Update application


The application for update starts from the HOME screen.
Select the [Update] button from the work section.

1) Select a program
Select an update program with a program radio button.

2) Check a version of program


Check a version number of present program.
Click the [Version] button and the version number will appear.
If it is the latest version, program update is not required.

14.1.3. Load a Program file (2. Program File)


Load the update program file.
Click the [Browse] button, and select the update program file.

14.1.4. Check IP address and Port number (3. Port)


It is not necessary input the IP address and the Port number.
Check the entry.
• MCB, ARB: 192.168.110.3 6000
• RMB: 192.168.60.3 6000

14.1.5. Update start (4. Update)


Start to update the program.
Click the [Update] button.
State of upload is displayed by progress bar and the message.

14.1.6. Update complete


1) Confirm that the update is completed.
• Check that progress bar is complete till the end.
• Check that” [END] Update Success” is displayed in the progress message

The RCU is restarted automatically and start operation with update program after the upload is complete.
It is not necessary to reset up the system composition information by update.

2) Check the program version which was updated.


Click the [Version] button and the version number will appear.

3) Quit the update application.

14.2. Program update of FGB


Update the program of FGB (CKA-137).

14.2.1. Preparation for FGB update


The application for update starts from the “System” menu on the “System” screen.
When the "Home" screen is displayed, click the [Installation] button to move to the "System" screen.

1) FGB WEB screen


Click the [FGB Setup] from the “System” menu on the “System” screen.

Internet Explorer (IE) starts and the root menu of the FGB WEB screen is displayed.

2) The FGB is made into SLEEP mode and program update is prepared.
Click the [Sleep] button on the root menu.
Confirm that a message in response dialog means “OK”.

3)Back the root menu


Click the [Back] button of IE, and a display screen will be back to the root menu.

* Do not click the [renew] button.

14.2.2. Starting the FGB Update application


Start the FGB update application.
Click the [FGB Update] button from the “System” menu on the “System” screen.

14.2.3. Program file


Select a program file for update.
Click the [Browse] button, and select the program file for update.

14.2.4. Check a IP address and Port number


It is not necessary input the IP address and the Port number.
Check the entry.
・ FGB: 192.168.110.151 80

14.2.5. Update start


Start to update the program.
Click the [Execute] button.
State of upload is displayed by progress bar and the message.

14.2.6. Update complete


1) Confirm that the update is completetd.1
• Check that “Application write OK” is displayed in the message window.

2) Quit the update application.

2) Reboot the RCU by AC power OFF and ON.

3) Click the [renew] button on the FGB WEB root menu of the IE.

Check the program version which was updated.

15.1. How to play back downloaded data from the Capsule with Ethernet

Show the flow from setup to playback below.

Stop recording to capsule.

Download data from VDR/S-VDR by Download software.

Set information required for playback with Setup software.

Start the Playback software.

15.1.1. Download data from the Capsule by Download software


(1) Click the [DOWNLOAD] button, start the Download software.

(2) Download software screen indicates.

(3) Select a save place with Folder selection button, and then select a playlist.
When download is started, playlists (from playlist1 to playlist10) are created automatically under the save place.
It is possible to save maximum 9 download data under the playlist folder except playlist1.

(4) Set download value with the slide bar.

(5) Input check in the check box of necessary download data and click the [Start] button.
The Setup Folder screen opens, and please input a certain save folder if necessary.
As default, date folder is indicated.
Click the [OK] button, and download starts.

(6) If the following screen is indicated, download is completed.


Click the [OK] button, and close the Download software.

(1) Click the [SETUP] button, and start the Setup software.

(2) The Login screens is indicated, and click the [OK] button after confirming that user is selected in the Operator
block.

(3) To import VDR/S-VDR configuration data, select the following file in the download data and click the
[Import] button.
*: ¥Playlist2¥VDR¥Init¥SysInfo.dat

Download folder

(4) Click the [Folder Selection] button, and select a folder created in accordance with the “3.1.3 Download data
from VDR/S-VDR by Download software”.

(5) Click the [Set] button, and setup is completed.


To close the Setup software, click the [Close] button.

15.2. How to play back CF card data in VDR/S-VDR

In order to play back record data of CF card, it is necessary to create a playback folder in the computer of use advance,
and to copy the data.

Show the flow from setup to playback below.

Create a playback folder by My Computer before Setup.

Set required information for playback with Setup software.

Start the Playback software, and copy a record data of CF card.

15.2.1. Create a playback folder


(1) To create a playback folder, start My Computer.

(2) Create a folder as follows.


Playback data is copied to the folder made here.
C:¥MV JRC

E.g. Ship name

15.2.2. Set required information for playback with the Setup software
(1) To start the Setup software, click the [SETUP] button.

(2) The Login screen is indicated, and click the [OK] button after confirming that user is selected in the Operator
block.

(3) Eject a CF card from the VDR/S-VDR, and insert it into the CF card slot of used PC.
Then, to import VDR/S-VDR configuration data, select the following file in the CF card and click the [Import]
button. CF card drive changes with used PC.

(4) Click the [Folder Selection] button, and select a folder created in accordance with the “3.1 Create a playback
folder”.

(5) Click the [Set] button, and setup is completed.


To close the Setup software, click the [Close] button.

15.2.3. Copy a record data of CF card


(1) Click the [PLAYBACK] button, and start the Playback software.

(2) Playback screen is indicated.

(3) Click the [Playlist] button on the Playback Operation Panel.

(4) Confirm the CF card drive is set in the Copy source.


If the drive is not set, please click the [Folder Select] button and select the drive.

(5) Select a playlist in the Copy place, and click the [Copy] button.

(6) Select radio button of the playlist copied CF card data, and click the [OK] button.

(7) The setup is completion above, and it is possible to play back with the [Playback] button.

15.3. How to exit the Playback software

(1) Click the [Setup] button of bottom right in the playback screen and the Setup screen is indicated.

16. Installation
Installation procedure of the maintenance software for JCY-1800 / 1850

16.1. Uninstall the old version

If the old version is installed, install after deleting the old version from the”Control Panel” -”Add/remove Programs” of
Windows.

16.2. Installation procedure

Down load the latest version on the Marine Service WEB.

1) Perform “setup.exe”
Double-click the”setup.exe” file.

2) Start installer
When the [Next >] button appears, click it after displaying the following window.

3) Input the user information


Input “jrcvdr” into the serial number block and click the [Next >] button.

4) Installation folder
“Program Files¥JRC¥JCY1800¥Maintenance” is specified as the installation folder.

5) Start installation

9) Installing completion
The shortcut for the “Maintenance Software” of the JCY-1800 / 1850 will be placed on the desktop.
Double-click it to start.
