12. Manufacturer’s analysis

Note - This confirms the endorsement by the manufacturer of the tests and that the master record/database has
been checked.

Manufacture’s analysis of 48-hour log is attached and in accordance with


International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 61996-1:2013 Maritime
navigation and radiocommunication equipment and systems – Shipborne
voyage data recorder (VDR) – Performance requirements – Methods of
testing and required test results section 4.6 – Data items to be recorded
(resolution MSC.333(90), section 5.5). Confirmation that all data is
available throughout the 12-hour recording.

13. Observations and additional manufacturer’s requirements

Note -This specifically provides for the logging of significant events that may have occurred on board since
the previous test, including the refitting of equipment or major unit change to existing equipment. − Any or all
of which may have an impact on the availability or quality of the VDR input signal.

This performance test was conducted in accordance with SOLAS regulation V/18.8 and forms part of the
procedure for the issue of the Annual Performance Test Certificate. The results, information and any
comments should be relayed to the manufacturer in accordance with the instructions contained within the
Operation Manual. Subject to satisfactory results, an Annual Performance Test Certificate will then be issued.

In accordance with the principles of harmonization of Certificates, the Certificate, when issued, will remain
valid until the next annual re-validation of that Certificate, subject to the equipment being maintained in
appropriate operational condition.

Download the VDR report file and DSC configuration file(s)
1. Access the JCY‐1900 web menu.

2. Click REPORT.

3. Enter the System section.

a) Check the Diagnosis and Entry are green color.

b) Enter comment , if you've found something
by checking.

c) If you've enter some comment, click Set to store.

4. Select Sensor, Image, Audio and Recording Medium one by one to enter the checking result.

4.1 Enter the Sensor section.
e) Enter the LAN Sensor tab, if some LAN sensor are connected.

4.4 Enter the Recording Medium section.

5. Download the VDR Report file. b) Display during Download.

a) Click the Download button.

c) Save the downloaded MBxxxxx_VDR_Report.tgz file. (xxxxx will be serial number of JCY‐1900.)

6. DSC configuration data isn't included in VDR Report file, it need to get separately.

6.1 Click SENSOR button in VDR web menu.

6.2 DSC can be connected at serial port ch19, 20, 23 or 24, get the all DSC configuration data.

a) Click Detail of DSC connected channel.

b) Click DSC Setting tab.

d) Display during Download.

c) Click Download button.

e) Save the Downloaded dsc_setup_get.dsc file.

Download the Voyage data by APT download tool.
1. Start up the JCY‐1900 maintenance tool.

Double click

2. Click the APTDOWNLOAD button.

3. After receive the VDR Configuration data, the software will be operational.

a) Click Browse button to select downloaded folder.

b) Enter  How many hours need to get the recorded data information.
The APT need to check more than 720 hours.
Initial value is 96, change to 750.

c) Confirm Get File Size/Num. of Files, Fixed  Protective Capsule, Float‐free Capsule and


Internal Storage have been checked.

The medium that cannot confirm the connection will be gray‐out like the above.
Check the connection then restart the APT download tool.

d) Click Get Info. button to get the recorded data information.


Actual Voyage data is not downloaded at this time, the information of how match size and
how many files are stored every one hour in each medium will be got.
*750 hours information can be get within 20 minutes.

3. After finish the Get Info.

The time of latest data.

Recording period The time of oldest data.

The FPC can get only size. Number of files in every one hour of each section. 

Sensor : One file is stored every one minutes. 60 files should be exist every one hour. 


Switched off, rebooting, manual record stop and black out can be cause of less the 60 files.

Image : One category image is stored every 15 seconds, when image data is existing.


One chart information file is stored, when it's received.
If three category images, Ecdis, X and S Radar are existing, 3600÷15×3=720 files are stored.
In case the VDR recognize existing radar image is standby mode,  it's stored every 20 minutes.
Below display communication setting inform VDR the radar image status.

Receive via LAN Assign Display Information Port

Audio : One audio track store one audio file every one minute.


In case all tracks (Mic.×6 , VHF×2 ) are used, 60×8=480 files are stored every  one hour.
VHF audio is not stored during blackout operation.

Check over 720 hours voyage data is stored in Internal_Strage, and over 48 hours in FPC and FFC


continuously.
If not, check the reason of discontinuously recording. (Check event)

4. Select the time to be downloaded.

If you select the latest one hour that
recording just now, the message
shown right figure will be displayed.

Check to select all medias. Check to select the medium separately.

Minimum required downloaded data to issue C.O.C.

FPC/FFC : Latest one hour that is not in recording.


48 hours old one hour data.
More than One hour data during the above periods that has largest
size and number of files.

Internal : Latest one hour that is not in recording.


720 hours old one hour data.
More than One hour data during the above periods that has largest
size and number of files.

5. Click Download button to start the download.
You can download with keeping recording.

The new folder named by day and time will be made
in the folder that is selected as download folder
automatically.

Click OK button to start download.。

6. Progress display during Download

Progress bar to show percentage of all.

After finish the download, number of actual
downloaded files is displayed.

Contents of downloaded data.
The folders named by each  medium will be made in the folder named by date and time.

Each media name folder
includes following folders.

Recorded information data for 750 hours will be stored automatically as csv file.

Expected time to finish 12hours data downloading.

Playback the Downloaded data.
1. Start up the  JCY‐1900 maintenance tool. 7. Select vdrinfo.dat file in init folder that inside

Check the downloaded EVENT data
1. Start up the JCY‐1900 maintenance tool.
Double click

2. Click LOGVIEWER icon.

2. Click EVENT icon.

3. Select the downloaded Event file.

a) Click Select button.

b) Select the file.
event000.evt is latest.
Then click Open.

event files are downloaded from each medium.

Event folder in Internall_Storage includes longest period.

4. Example to check the EVENT data.

Manual stop the recording form OPU at 2016/06/08 09:29. Recording is not re‐started after that.

VDR is powered down by  power switch at 2016/06/06 8:35.
It's re‐started at 2016/06/08 9:29.

Apply a C.O.C.
1. Fill in a application form shown bellow.

3. Select the downloaded Event file.

Float‐Free Capsule EPIRB test report in DVD or other type of memory.

11.3. EPIRB tester (Tron Unidec)


At installation or annual test, perform transmission test of EPIRB with EPIRB tester.
Note Since EPIRB tester, USB Serial cable and Tester software are stoked as follows, please order

11.3.1. Start
Connect probe of EPIRB test (Tron Unidec) to USB port of
using PC.
Then, click the Unidec icon on the desktop to start the
EPIRB tester.

11.3.2. Test
EPIRB tester opens the left screen and searches
automatically COM port which is connecting probe.
When finding COM port, the port number is displayed.
Select “406.037MHz” in the Frequency.
Click the [Request Data] button.
Keep lever to right (“TEST”) until making a flush of top light.
Status
After flushing, release the lever.

Frequency If “Message from EPIRB received OK” is displayed in the


406.037MHz Status, the test is OK.
Note)
If “406.037MHz” is not selected in the Frequency, NG is
displayed.
If NG is displayed even if the frequency is correct, replace
the capsule.

VDR JCY-1900/1950 required minimum recording period

According to the IMO RESOLUTION MSC.333(90),


The VDR should be satisfied with the terms of IMO RESOLUTION MSC.333(90).
Please find attached file "imo_resolution_msc333_90 (page5 term 5.4 Continuity of operation).
Therefore JRC should check vessel's VDR function is properly.
It is VDR APT.
Please carry out the VDR APT according to the JRC VDR APT procedure.
The engineer must download the VDR data from each medium.
However, JRC do not ask you to get full of 48 (720) hours data.

For example, APT date and time is 14:00_03.Feb.2017 (UTC).


The engineer need to download the data as followings:

FFC / FPC:
12:00 - 13:00_01.Feb.2017 ( 1 hour data)
12:00 - 15:00_02.Feb.2017 ( 1 or 3 hour data is recommend)
12:00 - 13:00_03.Feb.2017 ( 1 hour data)

Internal_Storage:
12:00 - 13:00_03.Jan.2017 ( 1 hour data)
12:00 - 15:00_20.Jan.2017 ( 1 or 3 hour data is recommend)
