Electricity Tariff Revision - October 2023 - English

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka approved new electricity tariffs effective October 20th, 2023. The tariff structure saw no changes. Rates were implemented for various consumer categories like domestic, religious, industrial, hotel, general purpose, government, street lighting, EV charging and agriculture. Domestic tariffs have multiple blocks based on consumption. Other categories have rates based on volume differentiated monthly consumption and supply voltage. A 2.5% social security contribution levy also applies to monthly bills effective October 1st, 2022.

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka approved the following Electricity Tariffs, effective from 20th October 2023 for all Tariff Consumer Categories.
Changes made to the Tariff Structure:
• None
The following Tariff Structure and rates will be implemented for all consumer categories considering 30 days billing period.

Day Time - (05:30 – 18:30), Peak Time - (18:30 – 22:30), Off Peak - (22:30 – 05:30)
• As per the Social Security Contribution Levy (SSCL) Act No. 25 of 2022, SSCL is charged at a rate of 2.5% from monthly electricity bills of CEB customers
effective from 1st October 2022.
• Above tariff revision is hereby published in terms of Section 30 (2) (d) of the Sri Lanka Electricity Act, No. 20 of 2009.
