Answer any four questions in this section.
Each question in this section carries 12 marks.
7 Answer the whole of this question on the sheet of graph paper
Mr Kulimbikila Naumoyo intends to order two types of shoes; Girls shoes and Boys
shoes for sale. He ordered each girls shoe at K100.00 and boys shoe at K200.00 each, he
had more than K40,000.00 to spend. He planned to order not more than 450 pairs of
shoes altogether. He was prepared to order girls shoes which should be atleast 50 and
upto 200 pairs.
(a) Given that x represents the number of pairs of girls and y represents the number of
pairs of boys shoes. Write four inequalities that satisfy these conditions. [4]
(b) Using a scale of 2cm to represent 50 pairs of shoes on each axis, draw x and y axes
for 0  x  450 and 0  y  500 respectively and shade the unwanted region to show
clearly the region where the solution of the inequalities lie. [4]
(c) Mr Kulimbikila Naumoyo makes K20.00 profit on each pair of girls shoe and K50.00
profit on each pair of boys’ shoe.
(i) How many of each type should he order to make maximum profit? [2]
(ii) Calculate the maximum profit he will make. [2]
