Brief Overview:
Make note: All your work needs to be school appropriate. These modules need to be taken
seriously. The module project will be displayed at Fine Arts night.
You must cite any internet based photographs.
Part 1:
-Define each of the photography styles listed below in your own words. (Minimum 1
sentence):
- Portrait A drawing, painting, or picture of a person or object.
- Landscape Shows the space within the world.
- Still Life genre of photography of inanimate subject matter usually a small group of
objects.
- Photojournalism communication of new through photographs.
- Fashion Photography genre of photography that mostly displays clothing
- Sports Photography Genre of photography that mostly focuses on sports
- Editorial Photography is a type of photography in which the images captured by a
photographer appear in print or online publications.
- Architectural Photography Photos that mainly showcase the exterior and interior of
manmade structures.
- Creative Photography Discovering new shapes, colors, and dynamic ranges.
Part 2:
- Link each photograph to a type of photography style and explain why they relate to
that photography style.

I chose these photos to edit in hope to make a funny picture.
OPTION # 2: What narrative does your photo tell? In the running photo you can see all the
runners being chased by prince charles.

-What are the 5 fundamental elements of photography? Explain the importance of each
(your own words).
● Light: Light is one of the most important fundamentals of photography as it illuminates
the object or product, which makes it stand out from the rest of the photo.
● Color: Color helps to set the mood in the photo and can play an important role in
touching the viewer in a emotional way.
● Moment: Creating a moment in a photo is when all the elements come together in the
image creating a special moment.
● Composition: This is when you put objects together in a frame to make them stand out
in a particular way.
● Distance: The distance that the photographer chooses wil have a big impact on how the
photo is taken, it will determine the focal length the photographer will have to shoot at in
order to get all the important parts in the photo.

this in point form.
● Photography tells a story not only about one person, and it can expand the horizon,
speaking about a city, people, country.
● Photos taken hundreds of years ago can spread information about how people lived,
what nature was like, what people did and what the world around them looked like.
● People who manage to capture exciting moments of the surrounding reality can subtly
notice the relationship between objects, their unique perspective, and beauty.
● Photography touches upon the most secret, the deepest in our soul, the best, kindest,
most generous sides of human nature. Photography always makes us want to share with
others what we consider essential.
● Photography has become available today and gives us an excellent opportunity for our
self-expression.
● Photos perfectly complement scientific work. In a term paper, business projects,
coursework, photos may be present.
Part 6:
Pick 2 photographers (school appropriate) and look at an image(s) that they created.
Answer the following questions:
● Look at the 2 photographers that you chose. Using 1 photo created by each
(school appropriate), explain how their photos make an impact or statement.
(1 sentence each).
Leanardo Da Vinci Had a big impact on art history today, after he created the
Mona Lisa it proved that anything was possible, and that influenced many artists
today.
Richard Avedon was renowned for his ability to capture raw emotion, evoking life
into his subjects while retaining formality. Creating often controversial and
provocative images, Avedon’s work helped redefine photography as an
expressive art form.
● How did the photographer use the 5 elements of photography to make their
image stand out?

In order to create a solid photographic image, the photographer needs to use different
techniques, pick a theme, understand the material that they are using (camera of choice & items
used to create effects) and have a plan set out.
The great thing about photography is that it has the potential to make creative visuals based on
the photographer. Every photographer is different and in our society today, images can be
captured with a variety of tech based facets and tell many stories.
Photography in this day and age is easily accessible and fast. That is what makes photography
special and so fun.
This assignment allows you to be a photographer. You will get to show your individual style and
be you.
Part 1:
You will create a portfolio of your photos.
Steps:
2. Themes- you will create photographs of your own and link them to the themes below.
3. Your portfolio should include 8 photos and 8 sentences. The photos are outlined below, and
the sentences simply explain your intention as an artist (called an artist statement).
Create the following:
- 1 Photo- School through your eyes (come see the teacher and wait your turn to leave the
room. Only a small group can be out at a time. You cannot go into other classrooms or
leave the school property. If you want to use people in your photographs, you need those
people to sign a consent form, (they sign a sheet of paper allowing you to photograph
them and use their photos for school purposes) and I need to make sure we are
following FOIP first.
