Injection Moulding Technique: by Hiteshikaa Dahiya

This document discusses injection molding techniques used in dentistry. It begins with defining injection molding as a process that allows for the efficient and precise production of dental products with consistent quality and accuracy. Some key advantages include time efficiency, consistency, customization and aesthetics. Potential disadvantages include initial setup costs, design complexity, waste generation and quality control. Various dental applications that use injection molding are described such as dental prosthetics, veneers, mouthguards and dental implants. Common materials used include acrylic resins, polyethylene, polypropylene and composites. The document concludes that injection molding remains a valuable manufacturing process in dentistry.

DEFINITION

INJECTION MOLDING TECHNIQUES ARE

WIDELY USED IN DENTISTRY FOR THE
FABRICATION OF VARIOUS DENTAL
PROSTHESES AND APPLIANCES. THESE
TECHNIQUES ALLOW FOR THE EFFICIENT AND
PRECISE PRODUCTION OF DENTAL PRODUCTS
WITH CONSISTENT QUALITY AND ACCURACY.
- ACCURACY AND PRECISION

INJECTION MOULDING &
COMPRESSION MOULDING
- Compression moulding is more suitable for products w simpler design
- Due to use of high pressure and ability to fill intricate designs it
fabricates appliances with better precise details
- Injection moulding is more suitable for mass production as it is a much
faster process
- Compression moulding is suitable for smaller production volumes or
custom trays
STEPS FOR FABRICATION
OF DENTURE BASE
1.

1. DENTURE BASE DESIGN

2. FABRICATE THE INJECTION

4. PREHEAT THE MOULD
5. INJECTION MOULDING
6. POLYMERISATION
7. COOLING AND EJECTION
8. TRIMMING AND FINISHING

CLINICAL TIPS
1. USE A NEEDLE SHAPED BUR TO MAKE THE HOLE
2. MAKE SURE THE SILICONE KEY IS 3-4 MM THICK AROUND THE
PREPARATION
3. MAKE SURE THE HOLE IS IN THE CERVICAL AREA TO AVOID
BUBBLES
4. FOR EXCESS REMOVAL USE BLADE NUMBER #12

A REVIEW OF BIOCOMPATIBLE
METAL INJECTION MOULDING
PROCESS PARA METERS FOR
BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS
AIM : A REVIEW OF
BIOCOMPATIBLE PROCESS
PARAMETERS FOR
BIOMEDICAL APPLICATION
RESULT :
CONCLUSION THIS PAPER HAS EXAMINED THREE GROUPS OF BIOCOMPATIBLE
METALS THAT ARE COMMONLY USED FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS. THE
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES PERTAINING TO MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND
CORROSION RESISTANCE OF THESE BIOCOMPATIBLE METALS HAVE ALSO BEEN
REVIEWED. IN COMPARISON WITH OTHER BIOCOMPATIBLE METALS, TITANIUM
AND ITS ALLOYS HAVE DEMONSTRATED THE BEST BIOCOMPATIBILITY WITH
EXCEPTIONAL MECHANICAL PROPERTIES AND ARE, THEREFORE, SATISFACTORY
MATERIALS FOR BIOMEDICAL AP-PLICATIONS. VARIOUS PROMISING PARAMETERS
FOR MIM PROCESS FOR BIOCOMPATIBLE METALS ARE UNDER CONTINUOUS
INVESTIGATION. GENERALLY, AT THE MOMENT, THE CURRENT PARAMETERS HAVE
GIVEN THE BEST RESULT IN TERMS OF DENSITY AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
AND ARE WIDELY ACCEPTED AND USED IN MIM TECHNOLOGY.
CONCLUSION
Injection molding remains a valuable manufacturing process in dentistry,
especially for mass-producing certain dental appliances and achieving high
precision in complex designs. Dental professionals should carefully weigh the pros
and cons of injection molding based on their specific needs and objectives before
adopting this technique in their practice.
