APD Component A Brief 2023-24 S1 NEU
Submission Deadline: Component A: The presentations will take place w/c 18 December
and the slides with the notes will be uploaded on Turnitin for all
groups by 5pm on the 15 December 2023.
Assessment Instructions
Your task will be to identify an area of Business and Management that you are interested in and which
relates with your degree e.g. Marketing, Operations, HRM, Accounting and Finance etc. You should
investigate 2 specific countries, addressing the following points:
1. What are the key characteristics of the chosen industry/sector in terms of growth and
development? How have these characteristics impacted on employers’ requirements in relation to
hiring graduates?
2. For each country, critically analyse graduates’ career readiness and any skills gap that exist.
3. Based on your analysis, make a comparison between the selected countries and critically discuss
similarities and differences.
4. Drawing on your research , what suggestions you can make to employers and graduates?
Guidance
● Working in groups of 3-4, you will present your work for about 20 minutes online to a group of
assessors using Blackboard Collaborate. The slides will have to be submitted in advance, along with
your scripts/notes.
● You are expected to use at least 15 academic references to inform your work and you should use
Harvard Referencing on your slides.

assignment. There will be specific sessions, both in the lecture and workshops, to help you with the
assignment. In addition, there will be dedicated drop-in sessions with the module leaders to provide you
with additional support (these will be both face to face and online).

Word Limit
● There is no word or slide limit per se, but please do bear in mind that you will have 20 minutes in total
to present. It will be important therefore to decide on the optimal number of slides.
