Dynamics For Rework

This document contains 9 problems related to kinematics involving the position, velocity, and acceleration of particles moving in one dimension as a function of time. The problems provide equations for position, velocity, or acceleration as a function of time and ask the student to determine other kinematic quantities, plot graphs, and evaluate expressions at given times or positions.

1) Consider a particle moving in a straight line, and assuming that its position is defined by the
equation. 𝑠 = 6𝑡 2 − 𝑡 3 Where, t is express in seconds and s is in meters. Determine the
velocity and acceleration of the particles at any time t.
2) The acceleration of a particle is given by, 𝑎 = 4𝑡 − 30 where 𝑎 is in meters per second squared
and t is in seconds. Determine the velocity and displacement as function time. The initial
displacement at t=0 is so=-5m, and the initial velocity is vo=30m/s. Plot (find) the velocity v
and acceleration 𝑎 vs time t graph for the first 10 seconds.
3) The velocity of the particle is given by 𝑣 = 25𝑡 2 − 80𝑡 − 200, where v is in feet per second
and t is in seconds. Plot (find) the velocity and acceleration a versus time for the first 6 seconds
of motion and evaluate the velocity when 𝑎 is zero.
4) The position of a particle is given by 𝑠 = 2𝑡 3 − 40𝑡 2 + 200𝑡 − 50, where s is in meter and t
is in seconds. plot (find) the position velocity and acceleration as a function of time for the first
12 seconds of motion. Determine the time at with the velocity is zero.

5) The velocity of a particle which moves along the s-axis is given by 𝑣 = 5𝑡 ⁄2 − 4𝑡 + 2 where
t is in seconds and v is in meter per seconds. evaluate position s, velocity v, and acceleration 𝑎
when t=3sec. The particle is at apposition so=3m when t=0.
6) The displacement of a particle which moves along the s-axis is given by 𝑠 = (−2 + 3𝑡)𝑒 −0.5𝑡 ,
where s is in meter and t is in seconds. plot (find) the displacement, velocity and acceleration
versus time for the first 20 seconds of motion. Determine the time at which the acceleration is
zero.
7) The acceleration of particle is given by 𝑎 = 2𝑡 − 20 where a is in meter per second squared
and t is in seconds. determine the velocity and displacement as a function of time. The initial
displacement at t=0 is so=-4m and the initial velocity is vo=3m/s.
8) The acceleration of a particle is given by 𝑎 = −𝑘𝑠 2 where 𝑎 is in meter per second squared
and s is in meter. Determine the velocity of the particle as a function of its position s. Evaluate
your expressions for s=5m if k=0.1m-1s-2 and initial conditions at time t=0, so=3m and
vo=10m/s.
9) The acceleration of a particle which is moving along a straight line is given by 𝑎 = −𝑘√𝑣,
where 𝑎 is in m/s2, k is constant and v is the velocity in m/s. Determine the velocity as a
function of both time and displacement (position). Evaluate your expression for t=2s and at
s=3m.
