Subject:
Part One 2W1 (WPX), 2W2 (RPX),
Part Two 2W5 (WCX) and 2W6 (WSX) Series Zapi Software Update
Cause:
Belly button brake function may not always work as intended under certain conditions.
Your prompt implementation of this campaign, as detailed below, is very important – failure to
do so could result in a serious incident.
Solution:
• Update Zapi Combi Controller software to improve the belly button braking function of the
Tiller Handle under certain conditions.
• Note: In regard to any current dealer stock of Zapi Combi controllers on-hand for above
reference models, please contact service engineering for more information on how to
update these controllers.
Tools Required:
Page1of 41
Tools Required cont.
• Interface Cable (24012-FS86A) x1
• Can Adaptor to fork truck (24014-SW022) x1
• Software for Service Campaigns x22009 (Download Center)
Service support
If the technicians are not familiar with the process and require further support please open a
CRM ticket and schedule a remote session. Service engineering will go through the process for
one truck with the technician.
Warranty:
All normal warranty guidelines and claim submission procedures must be followed.
Travel should be entered manually in the claim and is limited to one customer
visit per day.
MLA will reimburse one (1) service cable (P/N 24012-FS86A) for each servicing dealer.
• Please note - additional service cable purchases will be responsibility of the servicing
dealer and should not be claimed.
▪ Refer to Service Manual and Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) for safety guidelines
prior to working on equipment.
▪ Make all repairs with the forklift truck parked on a level, hard surface.
Block the forklift truck to prevent rolling while working on, or under, the
forklift truck. Use a tire cage if tires are to be replaced or worked on.
▪ Do not operate this forklift truck until you read and understand the instructions in the Service
Handbook and Operating Maintenance Instructions. Improper forklift truck operation is
dangerous and could result in injury or death.
▪ Obey all safety guidelines when welding on or near flammable fluids. Always have an approved
fire extinguisher on hand.

Part One
Preparation:
The majotity of trucks do not have communication ports. In order to connect to the can you will need to connect Can Adaptor to fork
truck (24014-SW022) to Connector J26. Plrease follow steps 1 to 4 to access the J26 connector under the tiller mechanism base cover.
1. Remove the Main cover (hood) by locating the two 6mm screws below the cover on the left and right side. Squeeze the
cover (hood) on the right and left side of cover base and remove from the unit.
2. Locate and remove the three 4mm screws on the tiller mechanism base cover. Slide the base cover up the tiller arm to
expose the tiller harness.
Page6of 41
Preparation (Continued):
3. Locate the J26 connector at the base of the tiller mechanism. Disconnect the connector and plug in the Can Jumper
harness (24012-FS86A). Plug in the can adapter harness (24014-SW022) while connected to the peak can adapter.
4. Connect the USB connector into your laptop COM port that you selected. Open ZP Can Console. Please see
below instructions to connect and communicate with the unit.
Connection device:
Please note which connection device you have and select accordingly. Below shows the settings for the Peak CAN Dongle and the Kvaser
CAN adaptor

Once connection has been established, the “Connection
Status” light will turn “green” and display similar information
as displayed here.
• ‘Connected to:’ will show the software version currently on the
controller.
• ‘Node:’ will show the connected node.
NOTE:
The rest of the display may show information or may be
blank. For current needs the information is not important.
Page10of 41
The receive process may take up to 2 minutes to load and
will show a process bar along the bottom of the display
window.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
You will have to use this number after the software update
is complete to restore your controllers’ original
parameters.
Page11of 41
4. Navigate back to Parameter change. Each tab will show a
Parameter, the Parameter Value, and a if the
parameter is able to be modified.
Parameters can be changed by doing any of the following:
• Program a value
• Acquire a value
• Select a value from a list of preset values
Page12of 41
Now using the ZAPI Can Flasher software, we will put the new software in the controller. It is important to use
the correct config file and the correct flash file together, as failure to do so can make the controller inoperable
and unrecoverable.
Ensure:
• Select Device is set to 'Peak
USB' (or the device being used)
• Select Baud Rate is set to '125 Kbps'
Kbps’
Page13of 41
To Flash the new software to the various controllers, the
CAN Flasher software needs to be configured to know which
controller to load the software to and know what file to
actually load.
• Load ConfigFlash tells the software which controller toload
the Flash file.
• Load File tells the software which file to use in the
flashing process.
4. Select File from the main pulldown menu.

Caution
Pay close attention that the config file and flash files are for either
the master or the slave designated by the m or s in the title. If you
flash the incorrect software into the wrong part of the controller
you may not be able to recover the controller
NOTE:
Both AD1M (Traction) and AD1S (Pump) nodes will need to
be flashed. This example shows Traction only.
8. Press “Open” or double click on the file name to returnto
the flasher screen.
