Environmental Impact Assessment
Environmental Impact Assessment
(EIA)
It is a systematic process i.e, used to indentify ,predict ,access and mitigate of a
proposed project ,plane or program.
The objective to ensure that the decision maker, stake holder and mainly public
are informed about the environment consequence before a project is approved
It identify's the projects size nature and location to access its environmental impact
SCOPING : It defines the boundaries of the study and establish the environmental
components to be accessed .
BASELINE STUDIES : It includes data or information on land use soil types, vegetation,
wates quality, air quality and other factors.
It uses data analyst and expert judgesto predict the project effect on environment
Impact mitigation : After all impact have been predicted and identified action to redue the
environmental damage and to avoid the potential adverse consequence of the proposed project
are recommended.
Impact mitigation : After all impact have been predicted and identified action to reduce
the environmental damage and to avoid the potential adverse consequence of the proposed
Public consultation : It obtain feedback from the public, it hold public meeting and hearing.
EIA report : An EIA report should provide clear information to the decision maker on the
different environmental scenarios without the project with the project and with project
alternative..

denying the project.
Monitoring and post enforcement audit : Monitoring and enforcement are crucial
component of the environment impact assessment process ensuring that the approved project
is implemented as per the EIA recommendation.Establishing a monitoring program to track the
project environment performance to verify compliance..
EIA IN INDIA
The MOEF(Ministry of Environments and forests) is the agency for environmental
clearance. If necessary, it may consult a committee of experts with a composition specified in
schedule III of notification.
• The lack of timely availability of reliable and authentic environmental data has been a major
bottle neck in achieving the full benefits of EIA.
• Assists in the selection of alternatives, including the selection of the best practicable and most
environmentally friendly option.
Conclusion
Environment Impact Assessment is a very beneficial step to check, whether the project is
environment friendly or not.
Since economic development is result of interaction between natural resources and technology
supporte of besigned for people, so all human activity should be economic, social and
environment friendly
