Present Simple:
Use: to talk about routine, habits, timetable, feelings, facts
Affirmative: He, She, It + v(s), (es), (ies) He eats meat. He doesn’t eat meat.
I, They, We, You + v.inf I play football. I don’t play football.
Negative: doesn’t + v. ------ don’t + v.
Interrogative: Does + he, she, it + v. .? -------- Do + you, they, I + v. …?
Yes, they go to the cinema. Do they go to the cinema?
Yes, she watches tv. Does she watch TV?
Spelling rules:
*verbs end with (-ch – sh – ss – x – o) (watch – wash – pass – fix – go), we add –es (watches
– washes – passes – fixes – goes)
we (fix) fix our car. He fixes his car.
*verbs end with a consonant and the letter (y), we cross –y and add –ies. Cry - cries, study -
studies, fly - flies
play - plays, pay - pays cook - cooks write - writes
Keywords: always – usually – sometimes – often – rarely – seldom – never (before the verb)
I go to the school. (always) I always go to the school.
He always flies his kite. (negative) He never flies his kite.
once – twice – in – on (at the end) in+(season:summer, winter), on+(days:Saturdays,Fridays)

Correct the verb in the following sentences:
1- Mr. Davis (leave) leaves the office early.

Change into negative:


1- Dad washes his car every day. Dad doesn’t wash his car everyday.

3- James puts his hat on the ground. James doesn’t put his hat on the ground.
4- I do all my homework. I don’t do all my homework.
5- She cooks dinner. She doesn’t cook dinner.

Change into interrogative:


1- Yes, they come early. Do they come early?
2- No, she doesn’t watch T.V. Does she watch TV?
3- No, dad doesn’t go to the work. Does dad go to the work?
4- Yes, we study hard. Do we study hard?
5- Yes, Tom plays football. Does tom play football?

3- Why should the people thank William and Sophia?/Why did Mr. Walter thank Sophia
and William?
They should thank Sophia and William for their good idea and hard work.
4- Why was Mrs. Trip a good one?/ Why should they thank Mrs. Trip?
Because they had a volleyball match in her garden and for her milkshake.
5- Why was it a cool day?
Because the party was fantastic. They had competitions, quizzes and races. The people
didn’t want to go home till midnight.
