Cum Laude Speech
Cum Laude Speech

BSED-III English
Graduation Speech
Let me begin my speech by saying, “The world was, is, and will always be
divided into two. In belief system, we have the theists who believe in God’s
existence and the atheists who deny the existence of any deity. In the binary
world, we have the numbers one and zero. We have the contrasting shades of
black and white, death contradicts life, hatred oppose love, chance and choice
and the list goes on.
I stand firm to my belief that it is not luck that put me in the place where I am
standing now. A position I always dreamed about, a place so precious, it seems
and feels ethereal. Being a Cum Laude means I created my own world where I
strived and not just merely survived. College offers us two closely related but
disparate worlds, a world to those who choose to only survive and a world for
those who chose to strive and excel.
You know what I really can’t stand the term “lucky” and I also dislike being
called one because in the first place I do not believe in it. It really is a product
of Iron age literacy and to believe in luck somehow means illiteracy. I strongly
believe that all my achievements are products of me burning midnight oils,
extra cup of coffee to keep me awake while doing school works and projects,
own efforts, and above all perseverance.
Graduation Speech
First of all, to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ who directed me in my college
journey, I know words are not enough to thank you and so I give you praise,
glory, honor, and worship. You made me a Cum Laude. I am so blessed to have
known and accepted you in my life.
To my ever-supportive parents thank you for your support and I hope I made
you proud today. To the rest of my family and to my friends, thank you for
always being there. Lastly, to my Letran - Manaoag family, for providing me
quality education for four years, I gave you my warmest and heartfelt gratitude.
This is your Cum Laude, Patrick Armas Padrid, a Cum Laude by choice and
not a Cum Laude by chance.
