The document provides a phenomenological study on the lived experiences of Filipino elderly in the Philippines. It describes 6 co-researchers who are elderly Filipinos living in Metro Manila. Four main themes emerged from interviews with the co-researchers: (1) age discrimination and disrespect from society, (2) failure to appreciate the past in comparison to the present, (3) violation of human rights through physical and emotional abuse, and (4) financial abuse. The study also found that the elderly adapted by accepting their new reality, keeping faith, and believing they can feel and do better. It recommends establishing support programs, livelihood projects, awareness campaigns, and further research to improve the lives of elderly Filipinos

of Filipino Elderly in the
Philippines: A
Phenomenological Study

In loving memory of my

Aging is
part of the
human
existence.

This phenomenon
has been the eye of
attention worldwide
concerning socio-
economical, political,
and scientific
dimensions.
Every person regardless
of age should not receive
any form of
discrimination.

Elderly should be
given equal
rights, respect,
and same
opportunity with
the rest of the
society.
What are the lived experiences of
Filipino Elderly in Metro Manila?
The study did not
compare the lived
experiences of the
co-researchers.

The study only

observed the
philosophical view
of the qualitative
phenomenological
study.
