FX27/FX727 Blanking using Hyper terminal
Purpose:
To clear out the memory on a FX control.

Overview:
The purpose of this procedure is to clear out the control when getting parity errors on the control. This
procedure walks you through step by step on how to use Hyperterminal to clear out the memory of
the FX27/FX727. This procedure uses Windows 7, but other versions of Windows will work.
Hyperterminal is not standard on Windows 7, so it will need to be downloaded if not already on your
computer.

Tools Needed:
RS232 cable
Laptop with Hyperterminal

Instructions:
I. . Clearing out Memory
A. Connecting Laptop to Control.
1 . Power off control.
2. Remove the FX701/FX01
3. Flip dip switch 8 to OFF.

4. Install FX701/FX01 back into control.


5. Connect RS232 25 pin connector to SCN1 of the FX701/FX01.
B. Hyperterminal Setup
1. Open Hyperterminal software (In this procedure I am using Windows 7, if you are using
something else these next few steps may be different).
2. A window named "Connection Description" will appear.
3. Type a name for the connection. (EX: FX27_FX727 Blanking).

4. Make sure that the first Icon is selected (The one with the red phone and yellow phone).
5. It should look like the picture below.

6. Once this is complete click on the Ok button.


7. Another window will appear "Connect To".
8. Change the "Connect using" to COM1.

10. After you press the configure button, you will get a COM1 properties window.
11. Set the port settings to match the picture below.

12. Once the Settings match make sure to click on the "Apply" button.
13. Click ok on the "COM1 properties" window.
14. Click ok again on the "Connect To" window.
15. This will bring you to a blank Hyperterminal screen.
C. Clearing using Hyperterminal.
1. With Hyperterminal open, power on the control.
2. The following screen will appear.

6. Press Enter.
7. This will now clear out your FX27/FX727 board.
8. Power off machine.
9. Set the FX01/FX701 Dip switch 8 back to original position.

10.At this point the control should come up. You will then need to reload parameters back
into control.
