Math-4 - Bar Graph
Classroom
Teacher: Learning Area: MATHEMATICS
Observation
Tool 2 Dates/Time: Quarter: FOUR
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of the concepts of bar graphs
and simple experiments.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to create and interpret simple representations of
data (tables and bar graphs) and describe outcomes in simple
experiments.
C. Learning Competencies Interpret data presented in single vertical and horizontal bar graphs.
(M4ME-IVe-63)
I. CONTENT Interpret data presented in single vertical and horizontal bar graphs.
Integration: EsP, English, Health
II. LEARNING RESOURCES Interpreting Data Presented in Single Vertical and Horizontal Bar
Graphs ( M4SP-IVg-3.4)
A. References

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Presenting the new lesson A. Drill:
Have a drill on skip counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
1. 7 18 1 16 8 (graph)
It is a diagram which shows how two or more sets of information are
related.
2. 4 1 20 1 (data)
- It is a collection of gathered information.
3. 22 5 18 20 9 3 1 12 (vertical)
- It is a straight line that is mapped from top to bottom .
4. 8 15 18 9 26 15 14 20 1 12 (horizontal)
-It is a straight line that is mapped from left to right.
5. 1 24 9 19 (axis)
- a fixed reference line for the measurement of coordinates.
B. Establishing a purpose of the new lesson 1. Motivation
(Motivation) 20-Second Challenge
The teacher will show pictures of food from the canteen with
corresponding value/prices. After 20 seconds, all the pictures will
be closed. The pupils will guess the amount of each picture as fast
as they can when the teacher show it one by one.
Questions:
1. What is the title of the bar graph?
2. What is found at the horizontal axis?
3. What is indicated at the vertical axis?
4. How many liters of water were consumed on Monday and
Tuesday?
5. How many more liters of water were consumed on Wednesday
than on Tuesday?
6. What days had the same water consumption?
7. What day had the most amount of water consumption?
8. What day had the least amount of water consumption?
9. What is the total water consumption in 5 days?
E. Discussing new concepts and practicing
Group Activity:
new skills no. 2
Group 1: Study the vertical bar graph. Then, answer the questions
that follow. Choose the letter of the correct answer.
Group 2: Interpret the horizontal bar graph. Then, answer the
questions that follow. Write your answer in the blank.
Group 3: Read the situations then organize the data presented in the
table. Use your crayon to complete the vertical bar graph
then answer the questions that follow.
F. Developing Mastery (Leads to Formative Directions: Interpret the data presented in the graph. Choose the
Assessment) letter of the correct answer.
