1. Why does technology lifecycle assure perpetual healthcare IT decision-making?


Technology lifecycle which refers to the stages of a technology product or solution
goes through from its inception to its eventual retirement. Technology life cycles
includes the continuous improvement and innovation, strategic planning, it should be
a cost effective, risk mitigation, it should also follow regulation of a specific place, and
there should be a end of life planning of a technology

2. What type of learning is required for nurse executives if they are to participate in Healthcare
IT decision-making?
Nurse executives which plays a crucial role in healthcare information technology
decision making and with their involvement requires a combination of leadership
skills, clinical practise and specific knowledge related to healthcare information
technology. Learning or education should include electronic health records, clinical
information system, standards and protocol, data security and privacy, clinical
informatics, communication skills and leadership skills, and change management

3. Describe the two most important HIT processes that demand nurse executive involvement?
Nurse executives play a critical role in healthcare information technology (HIT)
processes, contributing to the effective integration of technology into clinical
workflows. Two of the most important HIT processes that demand nurse executive
involvement are: 1 implementation of electronic health record and clinical decision
support system (CDSS) integration

4. What are the components of the Technology Lifecycle and define each component?

Planning- This is when companies bring in investors, develop prototypes, test product
effectiveness, and strategize their launch
procurement - happens when a product is launched in the marketplace.
Deployment - consumers have accepted the product in the market and customers are
beginning to truly buy in
Management - Streamlining production processes, negotiating favorable supplier
contracts, and optimizing distribution networks also become important
considerations.
Support – there are support from various sectors of the improvement of technology
Disposition – the sale by the company to a third party purchaser or its technology
segment and the engineered products offering that reside fabrication services
business segment.

5. How can academic leaders and regulators ensure nurse executives have competencies in
HIT?

Ensuring that nurse executives have competencies in Healthcare Information


Technology (HIT) involves a collaborative effort among academic leaders and
regulators. Here are several strategies that can be implemented to achieve this goal:
incorporate HIT in nursing education programs, professional development
opportunities, collaboration with other IT departments, adherence to accreditation
standards

6. Enumerate and describe the standards of practice and professional performance for nursing
informatics.

Assessment – informatics nurse collects comprehensive data, information and


emerging evidence pertinent to the situation

Diagnosis, problems and issues identification – informatics nurse analyses


assessment data to identify diagnosis, problems, issues, and opportunities

Outcome identification – informatics nurse identifies expected outcomes for a plan


individualized to the healthcare consumer of the situation

Planning – informatics nurse develops a plan that prescribes strategies, alternatives


and recommendations to attain expected outcomes

Implementation – IN implements the identified plan

Coordination of activities – coordinates planned activities

Health teaching and health promotion – employs informative solutions and


strategies for education and teaching to promote health and safe environment

Consultations- provides consultations to influence the identified plan, enhance the


abilities of others and effect change

Evaluation – evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes

Ethics – identifies informatics ethically

Education – addresses the need for the informatics nurse to attain knowledge and
competence, including the competency associated with demonstration of a
commitment to lifelong learning

Evidenced based practice – confirms that the informatics nurse integrates evidence
and research findings into practice

Quality of practice – describes the expectation for the information nurse


contribution related to the quality and effectiveness of both nursing informatics
practice

Communication – explains that the informatics nurse communicates effectively


through a variety of formats, with several accompanying competencies deleaning
specific requisite knowledge, skills and attitude

Resource utilization – uses appropriate resources to plan and implement safe,


effective and fiscally responsible informatics and associated services

Environmental Health – closes out the list of professional performance standards by


describing that the informatics nurse supports practice in a safe and healthy
standards.
