Session Title: "Examining Biases”
Session At the end of the session, learners will be able to:
Objectives: a) determine the concept of bias;
b) identify the author’s biases in given statements;
c) recognize if the message of the author is for or against a
certain issue.
Key Concepts:  Know the Positive and Negative biases in the given passage.
 Analyze the evidences and the diction used by the author.

 Introduce the topic. Display the semantic web
Introduction and with words or phrases that relate to the word

definition of bias?
Activity: Am I Positive or Negative
Materials: Printed Passage
Concept  Identify the sentences that signify positive or

Exploration negative bias. Copy the graphic organizer and
write your answers on a separate sheet
of paper.
Activity: Watch and Learn
Materials: Slideshows/PPT about the “Mining for
Minerals”
Valuing 20 mins
 Present a short video clip
 Ask this reflective question: "Describe the positive
and negative effect of “Mining for Minerals”
Activity: Self – reflection!
Materials: Journals, writing tools, coloring materials,
cellphones for digital entries, bond paper.
 Write all the negative and positive biases in the
given passages.
 Explain the task: Creatively express the thoughts
Journal Writing 15 mins based from the presented passage.
 Allow time to write, draw, or record thoughts.
