This document contains a daily lesson log for a 10th grade mathematics class on probability. The lesson objectives are for students to understand key probability concepts and use precise counting techniques to form conclusions. The content covered probability of simple events. Learning activities included a betting game group activity to introduce concepts, and an analysis of probability definitions and calculations. Students also worked in groups on practice problems applying probability calculations and identifying properties of probability. The lesson concluded with students assessing probability questions individually and the teacher reflecting on the lesson effectiveness and areas for improvement.

DAILY LESSON Teacher: Cathlyn D. Claveria Learning Area: Mathematics 10

LOG Dates and
Quarter: III
Time
I. OBJECTIVES
The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of probability.
A. Content Standard

The learner is able to use precise counting technique and probability in formulating conclusions and
B. Performance Standard
making decisions.
Specifically, the learners will be able to:
C. Learning - State clearly the definition and properties of Probability of Simple Event.
Competencies/Objectives - Solve the probability of Simple Event
- Recognize and appreciate the importance of Probability.

II. CONTENT PROBABILITY OF A SIMPLE EVENT

1. Additional Materials Modules: Visual Aid/Laptop (PowerPoint Presentation), Betting game materials, and activity sheets
Integration English: Literacy skills, research skills, Thinking and communication skills (throughout the lesson where
students share and communicate their ideas during discussion and group activity)

IV. PROCEDURE

PRE-ACTIVITY
DAILY ROUTINE
 Opening Prayer
 Checking of Attendance
 Reminders/ Announcements.

A. ACTIVITY GROUP ACTIVITY: BETTING GAME

Instructions:
- You’ll be divided into three groups.
- Each group will be given 3 tokens to be used in the betting game.
- The goal of the team is to increase the number of tokens by playing in the betting game for two rounds.
- You’re free to choose from any betting games offered by the teacher.
- There are two different betting games:
a. Tossing a coin
b. Rolling a die
- In tossing a coin game, your bet will be DOUBLED if you won, and TRIPPLED in Rolling a die game.
- The group with the highest number of tokens will win a prize.
PRIZES
1st: House and Lot
2nd: Lamborghini
3rd: iPhone 13 Promax
The prize will be given IF the teacher won the lotto grand prize.

After the betting game, the teacher will ask the following questions:
- What strategy did you use in selecting a betting game?
- What do you think are the chances of winning in:
a. Tossing a coin game?
- What are the possible outcomes when you toss a coin?
- What are the chances of getting a head?
- What are the chances of getting a tail?
b. Rolling a die game?
- What are the possible outcomes when you roll a die?
- What are the chances you’ll get 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 when you roll a die?
B. ANALYSIS Chance in mathematics is one concept that can be related to a significant term. The mathematical term we used for it is
PROBABILITY.
- Based on our activity, who can now define probability?
The teacher will post the visual aid/PowerPoint presentation.
Probability of an Event

- Is a ratio that compares the number of favorable

outcomes to the number of possible outcomes.
n(event )
P ( Event ) =
n (sample space )
W h ere :
n ( event )=number of outcomes of t h e event
n ( sample space )=number of all possible outcomes

Let’s try to answer the following examples:

A box contains 7 white balls and 11 orange balls.
1. If a ball is drawn at a random from the bag, find the probability that the ball is:
- White
- Green
- Not white

C. ABSTRACTION - What is probability?

- How can we find the probability of an event?
- What are the properties of the probability of an event?
- What happens to the event if:
o The probability of an event is 0?
o The probability of an event is 1?
o The probability of an event close to zero?
o The probability of an event close to 1?
- In real life where do we use/we apply the concept of probability? Give an example?
- What is the importance of probability in real life?
D. APPLICATION Group activity:
Instruction/s:
- Group the class into three.
- Select your leader, secretary, reporter, peacekeeper, and solver.
- You’ll be given an envelope containing an activity sheet and presentation materials.
- You’ll be given 2 minutes to do the task.
- You’ll be given 1 minute each to present your output.
- Work silently.

E. ASSESSMENT Study the problem and answer the probability questions. Write your answer in fraction (simplify if possible) then
state the properties of probability of an event.
1. A class has 18 boys and 9 girls. What is the probability that a randomly selected student is a girl?
2. A deck of cards contains cards numbered from 1 to 81. If a card is picked at random, what is the
probability of picking a card with a number that is divisible by 5?
3. A letter is picked at random, from the word PROBABILITY.
What is the probability of getting:
a. the letter B
b. a vowel
c. a letter M in the alphabet

V. REMARKS
VI. REFLECTION
A. No. of learners who earned
80% in the evaluation
B. No. of learners who require
additional activities for
remediation
C. Did the remedial lessons
work? No. of learners who
have caught up with the
lesson
D. No. of learners who
continue to require
remediation
E. Which of my teaching
strategies work well? Why
did this work?
F. What difficulties did I
encounter which my
principal or supervisor can
help me solve?
G. What innovations or
localized materials did I
used/discover which I wish
to share with other
teachers?
