CTX 310 Configuration For Dialogue With Ethernet (Fanuc)

This document provides instructions for configuring an Ethernet connection between a PC and a GE Fanuc 32i CNC machine for downloading and uploading files. Key steps include setting the CNC's Ethernet board or embedded Ethernet parameters to define the IP addresses and ports, activating the data server option if using an Ethernet board, and configuring an FTP server software on the PC to define the user name, password, port and directory for file transfer. Once configured, files can be transferred between the CNC and PC during normal CNC operations like downloading parameters or part programs.

CONFIGURATION FOR DIALOGUE WITH ETHERNET BETWEN PC AND GE FANUC 32i

1. INTRODUCTION
By Using a connection FTP server either with the EMBEDDED ETHERNET (connector CD38A) or with the
ETHERNET BOARD (connector CD38R), it is possible to download or to load any data-file CNC (Parameters,
Part program, Tool offset..).
It is necessary to use an Ethernet cross cable.
In case of ETHERNET BOARD , it is necessary to activate the option Data Server A02B-0307-S737.
The functionality ALLIO, is anyway inhibited in both functions.

2. SETTING ETHERNET BOARD (CNC SIDE)

Set the parameter 20=5
Select [SYSTEM] [+] until the page “ETHER BOARD” is displayed, select [COMMON] and do the following
setting:

3. SETTING EMBEDDED ETHERNET (CNC SIDE)
It is necessary to set the parameter 20=9
Is is also necessary to connect a HUB (problem present on PC DELL) and to deactivate, if active, the
FIREWALL (BLACK ICE) from CONTROL PANEL -> Administrative Tools -> SERVICES -> STOP.
Select [SYSTEM] [+] until the page “EMBED PORT” is displayed, select [COMMON] and set the two lines
indicated:

4. SETTING FTP SERVER PERSONAL COMPUTER
In our simulation, we have used as FTP Server file on PC, either SERV-U V4.1 (http://www.serv-u.com/) (look
paragraph 4.1) or Cesar FTP 0.99G (http://www.aclogic.com/) (see chapter 4.2)

4.1 SETTING SERV-U

Select [Setup] and do the setting of the page FTP-Server:

5. OPERATIONS
Activate the file FTP server on PC. In case of Serv-U, in the Task bar the icon “U” must be present, as displayed
on the following picture

Picture. 5.1 Activation Serv-U

Picture. 5.2 Activation Cesar FTP

To download datas from the CNC, carry out the usual operations, that is p.e. PARAMETER -> OPRT -> PUNCH
-> EXEC.
The data-file will be sent via Ethernet to the P.C. connected on the directory defined in picture 3.4, instead to
the memory card / USB card.

6. DIAGNOSIS
In case of missing connection of the HUB or missing setting of the option Data server, when you start a
download, the alarm SR2032 BOARD ERROR (DATA SERVER) will be generated to notify the wrong
connection.
