2. Greetings
A pleasant morning to everyone. How are you
today? We are fine maam.
3. Checking of attendance
Class monitor, who are absent today? I’m pleased to tell you maam that nobody is
absent today.
Very good class. Let’s give a clap to everyone.
4. Checking of assignment
Do we have an assignment class? None maam.
What was our last topic? Our last topic was all about the Tools and
equipment needed in preparing vegetables.
To test your understanding of our last topic we
will have an activity. Do you want an activity
class? Yes maam.
I will group you into 4. This will be your
permanent group throughout the whole period.
All you have to do is identify the name of the
tools and equipment that will be shown on the
screen. The first to answer correctly will be
given a chance to choose a box. Each box
contains plus points or minus points. Now here’s
the twist. You are given the freedom to keep the
box (if you think this contains plus point) or give
the box to another group (if you think this
contains minus points). During the whole period,
you are going to add all the acquired points from
the box and we will declare the winner. Am I
clear class? Yes maam.
Let us start.
- Paring knife
- Chopping board
- Colander
- Oven
- Mixing bowls
- Steamer
Cucumber
Eggplant
Tomato
2. Presentation
1. Stem vegetables
It is an edible part of the plant which
shoots from the roots or bulb and it
always grows above the ground unlike
roots or bulb.
3. Flower Vegetables
Plants that have flowers are used as
vegetables in the culinary world. They
are seasonal and abundant during a
particular season of the year. Such plants
are only grown for their flower buds.
What part of the plant does this kind of
vegetable grow? Since it is called flower vegetables maam, so it
grows as a flower in a plant.
Can you give me an example of this? For example, squash flower.
Very good. Have you tried eating it? Yes maam.
For you, what is the best dish for this? Law-oy maam.
8. Fruit vegetables
(call someone to read)
The vegetables that bear fruits are under this
category. But some plants bear sweet and fleshy
fruit that are eaten raw and plants of which
grains or seeds of their fruit are used, do not fall
in this category.
9. Fungi vegetables
(call someone to read)
Commonly known as mushrooms, various
types are available of which some are edible and
some are poisonous.
4. Generalization
Another idea from the class? I will make it fun. I will try making a veggie
face (like cucumber eyes, tomato nose, green
bean mouth, and shredded carrot hair). I will
try serving veggies with yogurt dip or
sprinkled with cheese.
Now why is it important to eat vegetables? Eating vegetables is very good for human
health. The nutrients and vitamins in
vegetables and fruits help reduce the risk of
several chronic diseases. Besides, vegetables
add fiber very well, helping to maintain health
and body.
