3. (a) A body dipped into a liquid experiences an upthrust. State two factors on which

(b) A ship is normally with a large hollow space. This means that the ship has a large volume

weight of the ship. If the hollow space is filled with air what would happen
(c) Calculate the density of body, if a floating body is 95% submerged in water. The density
of water is 1000kg/𝑚3

4. Salome is a standard seven (7) pupil at Ushindi primary school, she heard some
terminologies from her sister Zukharia who is a form one student at Juhudi Jeshini Secondary
school. Assume you are Zukhaira and give the usual meaning of the following terminologies
[Tensional force, Bouyant force, Viscous force, Normal force, Tensional force]

5. (a) When the cart is move there is a work done and when a cart does not move there is
no work is done. Why?

(b) From the following conditions identify whether the work is done or not?
(i) Lifting or lowering the object
(ii) Force holding an object but an object does not move.
(iii) Force and distance acts perpendicular to each other.

6. Explain the following concepts

c) A cube of sides 2cm is completely submerged in water so that the bottom of the cube is
at a depth of 10cm. If density of water (𝜌) is 1027𝑘𝑔⁄𝑚3 ; g = 10𝑁⁄𝑘𝑔:
(i) What is the difference between pressure at the bottom of the cube and the pressure at its
top?
(ii) Determine the difference in the forces at the top and bottom.
(iii) What is the weight of the water displaced by the cube?

b) Explain the mechanism of hot air balloon
c) A hot–air balloon including the envelope, gondola, burner and fuel and one passenger
has a total mass of 450kg. The air outside the balloon is at 20℃ and has a density of
1.29𝑘𝑔⁄𝑚3 . The air inside the envelope is heated to a temperature of 120℃, at which, it has
density of 0.90𝑘𝑔⁄𝑚3 . To what volume must the envelope expand to just lift the balloon into
the air?
