EXPERIMENT 7:

Aim: Share printer and a folder in a network and transfer a file from one computer to another.

Apparatus: Computers with LAN Connection, Transmission Media, printer etc.

Introduction: Share only the folder that you want to share. Send as view-only or enable editing
for co-workers and partners outside of the company. Customize your sharing.

Advantages: Advantages of file sharing. In a file sharing environment, a large number of users
can access a program as though it were on their local machines, when actually the program
resides on a single file server. A user can have access to a much larger program repertoire than
could fit on a private disk.

Disadvantages: Print sharing on peer-to-peer has some disadvantages related to energy


consumption, productivity, printer installation and general peer-to-peer limitations.

Procedure of Folder sharing:

STEP 1: Click on open network and sharing center.

STEP 2: Click on change advance sharing setting

STEP 3: Click to turn on file and printer sharing also click to Turnoff password protected .

STEP 4: Select the folder we want to share and then right click on it then, select share with .
and next specific people .

STEP 5: Select everyone option.

STEP 6: Then click to button.

STEP 7: Then Last select file and click Done button.

Procedure of Printer sharing:

STEP 1: Click on open network and sharing center.

STEP 2: Click on change advance sharing setting

STEP 3: Click to turn on file and printer sharing also click to Turn off password protected .

Step 4: Then go in the control panel and select the devices and printers

Step 5: Then choose your printer and right click on it and go in printer properties

Step 6: Then go in the sharing option

Step 7: And the select the option Share this Printer


Result: In this way we shared printer and a folder in a network and transfer a file from one
computer to another.

Conclusion: It is easy to share printer and a folder in a network and transfer a file from one
computer to another.
