The time signature is written as two numbers, one set above the other, usually placed
immediately before the first note. The upper number tells us the number of pulses in a
measure. The lower number tells us which note sign is to represent the pulse:
• “2” represents a half note • “4” represents a quarter note • “8”
represents an eighth note
