 Marex 3D –
A joystick like no other

Harbor docking and undocking is now easier and safer than ever before. The 3-axis joystick of
this intuitive maneuvering aid allows for the simultaneous operation of engines and thrusters.
Steer your ship in any direction with precision and ease in the 3D mode, simply by pushing or
turning the joystick. A smart control coordinates the drives and holds the heading by com-
pensating for the yaw caused by wind or current. If necessary, the heading can be changed
easily by rotating the top part of the joystick.

It is extremely simple: Just move the joystick and the control will do the rest.

At the push of a button, Marex 3D maintains your boat’s direction, position, or even both –
features that are highly useful when fishing or waiting at water gates.
Alternatively, engines and thrusters can be controlled separately in the thruster mode:
The joystick operates only the thrusters, while the engines are controlled via a control head.

Heading hold:
Enjoy the view of the coastline or sunset. Marex 3D maintains the heading of your boat while allowing it
to drift.

3D hold:
No need to steer manually while waiting at water gates or narrow port entries. Marex 3D holds the
heading and position of the ship with perfect accuracy.

Virtual anchor:
Use the virtual anchor mode to hold the ship within a defined circle, while it finds its most comfortable
heading. The control actuates the engines in an intelligent way to minimize fuel consumption and noise.

Marex 3D is designed for use on yachts, speedboats, and pleasure crafts of any size, with the option to integrate up
to 6 joystick stations. It can be installed with conventional shaft line, fixed-pitch propeller applications in combina-
tion with ON/OFF and proportional thrusters. The following combinations are possible:

Joystick:
The joystick reflects the approved design features of the Marex control heads. Its ergonomic shape is perfect for fingertip
operation and provides effortless maneuverability with confidence and ease. The integrated design reduces the time and
effort required for installation to a minimum. A leaner version is available for applications without hold modes.

Marex 3D Controller:
The Marex 3D Controller is the heart of the Marex 3D system. It processes the commands from
the joystick and performs the necessary vector calculations for controlling the main propulsions
and thrusters. It also provides the interfaces to all standard thrusters on the market.

Accessories for Marex 3D with DPS:

The use of the DP modes requires a heading and GPS sensor. It includes an electronic compass
and provides data on the ship’s position. A DP controller is available for operating the hold
position and virtual anchoring modes.
