FLAME SCANNER CALIBRATION & TEST KIT

INTRODUCTION:

BOILER CONTROLS PRIVATE LIMTIED [BCPL], an ISO 9001:2015 certified Manufacturing Company was
established in 1989 by Ex-BHEL Boiler Power Plant Engineers. We are one of the leading MANUFACTURERS of
FUEL FIRING EQUIPMENTS including Flame Scanners, Igniters, Burner, Oil Gun Assembly Fuel Oil System etc.,
We have 33 years of rich experience in the manufacturing of Flame Scanner system which comprises
of several electronic modules. Scanner Housing Electronics module is one such card mounted in the Flame
Scanner housing assembly which requires being calibration at least once in 3 months for true flame sensing.
The Safe Visible Flame Calibration and Test unit consists of Portable Test Kit, Portable Light Source,
Power and Inter-connection cables, as required. The Kit electronic circuitry has provision for connection of the
Housing Electronics card at the back Panel. This is calibrated and prefixed set up to simulate field set up.

GENERAL PROCEDURE APPLICABLE FOR BOTH THE MODELS:

SPECIAL FEATURES APPLICABLE FOR BOTH MODELS:

1) CHECK AND CALIBRATION OF SCANNER HEAD


− A customers need to set up dark and bright set point to complete the calibration. Detailed
procedure will be provided along with supply.
2) 100% SUITABLE FOR BHEL SCANNER (FIELD) CARDS (INCLUDING ONE TRIMPOT MODEL)
− Using this, customer can calibrate one trimpot card, two or three trimpot model scanner
cards of BCPL, BHEL or CE supply.
3) 100% CUSTOMIZABLE AND LOW MAINTENANCE
− As per customers requirement it can be modified (Physically). Comparing with other’s make
it’s a cost-effective product.
We have 2 models namely SECAT -1 and SECAT-2 , for field use and lab use , with SECAT-2 model being high
priced with Additional features, However both models are very accurate for calibration .

Model- SECAT 1 (FIELD & LAB USE)

➢ Since the kit was made as simple & portable, Calibration can be done anywhere (In field alone). No
requirement to bring the head assembly to the LAB.
➢ Toggle switch for easy shifting of frequency (Namely coal (100 Hertz)
and Oil (50 Hertz), it’s a fixed frequency (OIL and COAL) for a quick setting.
➢ Variable intensity for adjusting bright and dark settings.
➢ Directly displays Signal Voltage (VDC) for quick calibration.
➢ Made for Rugged use so, it can be used anywhere.
➢ Can be used in Field as well as Lab.
➢ Low maintenance, customer can service easily.
➢ Value Pricing, highly cost effective.
➢ Single or Double enclosure as per customer requirement. (Customizable)

Note: This model contains adjustable intensity and fixed frequency it will help full for easy and
fast calibration. Customer needs to select the frequency using toggle switch and then proceed for
calibration.

Model- SECAT 2 Variable Frequency

(ADDITIONAL FEATURE OVER SECAT – 1 MODEL)

➢ Variable Frequency input (0 to 120) Hz.


➢ Variable intensity for adjusting bright and dark settings
➢ Frequency output in display (Digital form).
➢ Intensity output in digital form.
➢ Signal voltage (VDC) in display, to set dark and
Bright voltage.
➢ Micro controller-based system - Highly advanced
hardware and software are tied together.

Note: This model has intensity as well as frequency adjustment so customer can calibrate
accordingly. The process is done by advanced micro controller with latest software integration. So,
the results are more accurate and it will be displayed. However, both models perform the
Calibration as per site requirement.

FLAME SCANNER CALIBRATION TEST KIT: General procedure

The testing engineer has to set up scanner head assembly as well as test kit as per testing procedure. After
initial set is completed, the engineer should set the intensity and frequency depends up on customers set
points. After that check the scanner, if the values are found ok, then go for next procedure, Else adjust using
the trimpot (as per calibration procedure) it will be achieved. The same needs to be done till the value is
achieved. Detailed procedures will be provided along with item.

BCPL MODEL ADVANTAGES OVER OTHER MODELS

➢ Direct Method- the scanner is exposed to light and directly calibrated as per field, other models are
indirect method (declared by the supplier ) .
➢ Used in field - BCPL model is rugged design, competitors model cannot be used in field . the field
engineer has to bring the head assembly from field to lab and then calibrate.
➢ Two Unit System (Optional ) - light source is separate, and calibration is separate box . easy
operation, competitors the head assembly needs to be bent and calibrated.
➢ Serviceability – customer can service the items locally, with spares support if required from BCPL .
