Network Analyzer Tutorial

The document provides instructions for calibrating a network analyzer using both 1-port and 2-port calibration methods. For 1-port calibration, open, short, and load calibration standards are connected to a single port to eliminate errors. For 2-port calibration, the same standards are used on two ports and a thru standard is connected between ports to eliminate additional errors in transmission measurements. Key steps include connecting the appropriate standard for each calibration item and saving measurement data.

Network Analyzer- Short Manual In the experiment HP e5071 Network Analyzer, standards, thru and cables are used.

Figure 1. shows names and functions of the front panel for a 4-port analyzer . In our experiments we will be using a !-port "ersion of this analyzer.

Figure 1. #ames and functions of the front panel In the picture below you see the standard to be used in the calibration process. $here are letters %, & and ' written for each of the outputs which stand for open, short and load respecti"ely.

In 1-port calibration, calibration data are measured by connecting an %/0# standard, a &1%2$ standard, and a '%.3 standard to the desired test port. $his calibration effecti"ely eliminates the fre4uency response reflection trac, ing error, directi"ity error, and source match error from the test setup in a reflection test using that port.
