NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE IN-SERVICE TRAINING

February 6, 2023

George R.R. Martin (American novelist and short-story writer, screenwriter, and
television producer. He is the author of the series of epic fantasy novels A Song of Ice and
Fire, which was adapted into the Emmy Award-winning HBO series Game of Thrones)
once said “A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies . . . The man who never reads
lives only one.”

There are 36 teachers in Eliseo Belen Elementary School-Annex have been blessed
and privileged for the learning opportunities given to them as they broaden their
horizons in the implementation of RASA-BASA (Reading Across Subject Areas for Better
Academic Students Achievement) on the in-service training held last February 6, 2023
in the e-classroom.

The orientation was given by Ma’am Romina M. Maningas, the school Filipino
leader. She gave a brief discussion on the project description, its background/ situation
analysis and its objectives. The participants were all enlightened about the root cause of
the results in PISA 2018 and reading assessment of our learners during discussion
proper. The participants are eagerly participating in the discussion as they’ve shared
their own experienced based on the topic.

The participants are also given each copy of the monitoring tool and briefly
discussed the part and how it will be implemented. Queries are also been answered by
the resource speaker.

At the end of the each SLAC Sessions, the participants evaluated the overall
aspects of the sessions as in the objectives, resource speaker and the atmosphere during
the discussion.

A. Profile of the Program Course

I. Title of the Program or Course

This program/course is entitled Orientation On Implementation of RASA-BASA
(Reading Across Subject Areas for Better Academic Students Achievement)

II. Rationale
School – based Learning Action Cell (SLAC)/ INSET of Orientation On
Implementation of RASA-BASA (Reading Across Subject Areas for Better Academic
Students Achievement) is focus to answer the problem in reading ability of our
learners since the closures of schools during the covid-19 situation.

This School – based Learning Action Cell (SLAC),INSET will provide an

opportunity for teachers to sit together, review on some specific instructional
concerns and discuss on topics that can solve everyday problems in struggling
readers in the classroom. This will also serve to support the teachers for some
innovative practices that would enhance their skills and competencies. Teachers

will be equipped with the necessary teaching strategies and techniques in

developing the learners literacy level .

In this pandemic, the education sector is facing big challenges of coping up.
Thus training teachers has never been more imperative than now.

III. Program or Course Description

This orientation, as per the Div. Memo No. 461 s. 2022, will commence with
the Eliseo Belen Elementary School-Annex teachers on February 6, 2023.

Throughout the day, the 36 teachers shall be in school to ensure their

focused attention to the training inputs. They shall be accommodated in the
school’s ICT room, observing the proper health protocol and social distancing. A
large TV screen and sound system shall be provided.

The Professional Development Priorities of teachers considered here are the

Development Plans stipulated in their IPCRF which highly include among others:

1. Used range of teaching strategies that enhance learners achievement in literacy

and numeracy skills
2. Applied a range of teaching strategies to develop critical and creative thinking,
as well as other higher order thinking skills.
3. Monitored and evaluated leaner progress and achievement using learner
attainment data

The professional standards covered are the Philippine Professional Standards

for Teachers.
