message is issued if this is not the case and the busbar displayed as undefined. A fault message
is also issued if both inputs connected to the Blackout relays are carrying the same signal '1' or
'0'. The Blackout relay's line-side fuses are monitored at a separate input. A fault message is
issued when a fuse blows.

The busbar is displayed as undefined at the occurrence of any of the described faults and the
power circuit breaker blocked for all generators and transfer-lines connected to this busbar. Any
closed power circuit breakers are not opened.

3.3.9 Blackout Start (Function: Blackout Start)

This function controls the recovery of busbar voltage following a Blackout. This will only take
place when the corresponding busbar is not blocked. Blocking can occur due to a short circuit.

Blackout could be full blackout or partially blackout. the ACBs will trip by undervoltage, including:
· 6600/440V Service transformer breakers(T1-S1,T1-S2,T2-S1,T2-S2,T3-S1,T3-S2,T4-
S1,T4-S2).
· 6600V drive system breakers and other consumers.
· Bus tie breakers on 440V MSB(TB1,TB2,TB3,TB4)
· 440/230V Service transformer breakers(T15-S2,T16-S2,T17-S2,T18-S2). Primary side
kept closed.

· Bus tie breakers on 230V MSB(TB5,TB6,TB7,TB8)

· Bus link breaker between 440V MSB and 440V ESB.

Blackout recovery sequence is described in the block diagram as below:

Start

Full blackout= BUS A-1+BUS A-2+BUS B-1+BUS B-2 blackout.

Start/stop sequence change to 1 2 3 4 5 6.
DS01, DS02, DS05, DS06 keep closed. DS03, DS04 Open by PGS.
PGS try to start 1 generator on each busbar at the same time. Closing maybe via synchronization.

4 split mode blackout (partially blackout)

PGS/IMAC will start the standby engine in this section if possible. For Bus A-1 and Bus B-1
blackout could caused by DG1 or DG4 fault, in this case blackout recovery of this section will be
not possible.

PGS/IMAC will recover the 6600V MSB, 440V MSB and 230V MSB for the power grid recovery.
Once 440V MSB is recovered, IMAC will start the auxiliary system in the diagram above. The
other auxiliary system is not in SIEMENS scope or needn’t restart from IMAC.

PGS/IMAC will recover the 440V MSB by close the bus tie breaker in PORT or STBD DP zone if
the 6600/440V transformer breaker closed fail or not in control. The bus tie breaker between two
DP zone will not automatic close to avoid propagate fault to other system.

DP with open bus-tie mode blackout (partially blackout)

Bus A-1 + Bus A-2 blackout or Bus B-1 + Bus B-2 blackout in this scenario. Bus tie breaker on
6600V MSB between two DP zone was open.
The bus-tie breaker on 6600V MSB in the DP zone (DS01&DS02 or DS05&DS06) will keep
closed.

For example Bus A-1 and Bus A-2 blackout, PGS will start one standby engine on both Bus-bar
1 and Bus-bar 2 if possible (there must be engine in auto mode and ready to start) to recover the
6600V Bus A-1 and Bus A-2. Same as Bus B-1 and Bus B-2 blackout.

The recovery of LV gird and auxiliary system are same with 4 split mode blackout recovery.

DP with closed bus-tie mode blackout (full blackout)

Bus A-1 + Bus A-2 + Bus B-1 + Bus B-2 blackout in this scenario. Bus tie breaker on 6600V
MSB are all closed.
Bus-tie breaker on 6600V MSB between DP zones(DS03&DS04) will open to separate the
system as two. The bus-tie breaker on 6600V MSB in the DP zone (DS01&DS02 or
DS05&DS06) will keep closed.
PGS will automatically set the start priority to 1 2 3 4 5 6, to make the big engines with higher
start priority, therefore 4 big engines will start at the same time.
PGS will start the standby engine on all four bus-bar if possible (there must be engine in auto
mode and ready to start) to recover the 6600V bus-bar.
The recovery of LV gird and auxiliary system are same with 4 split mode blackout recovery.

Drive system recovery

The thrusters and propulsion system to be restart if they were running prior blackout.
Once 6600V MSB and 440V MSB recovered from a blackout, PGS/IMAC will send “restart
request” from SCU to drive control field station (Kongsberg’s scope). The “restart request” will
sent if the drive was running before blackout.
The remote control system (Kongsberg) to send 5 “reset pulses” to reset the trip fault of drive
converter. Drive control system will feedback “ready to start” to remote control system when all
faults are reset. The remote control system will restart the drive system to recovery the thrusters
and propulsion then.

Emergency Switchboard Recovery

The bus link between 440V MSB and 440V ESB will trip by under voltage when blackout.
The emergency generator will automatically start by ESB if it is in emergency generator mode.
Emergency generator is not in PGS control.
The bus link between 440V MSB and 440V ESB will keep open after blackout recovery, the
change over of ESB power supply will be manually.
