Final Audition Pack
Final Audition Pack
We are delighted to announce that this September The Sinodun Players will be
presenting The Last Five Years, written by Tony Award-winner Jason Robert
Brown.
This exciting, modern show will be staged as a Studio Production at the Corn
Exchange. It is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical, which has
captivated audiences and critics alike, earning a Drama Desk Award (music and
lyrics), with a film adaptation, and productions around the world.
Synopsis:
Cathy, a struggling actress, and Jamie, a budding novelist on the brink of wild
success, are 20-somethings in New York who meet, fall in love, marry, and divorce
over the span of five years. Cathy tells the story from the end of their marriage;
Jamie begins from when they first meet.
As the musical unfolds, Jamie shares his story from the spark of their
relationship’s giddy beginning, whilst Cathy’s side is told in reverse, from the end
of their turbulent partnership. The two characters cross paths just once, as their
stories collide during the middle of the show.

Audition Information:
As there are only two characters in the show we are looking to double cast. The
show is almost entirely sung, with little dialogue. We are looking for confident
strong singers (2 male, 2 female) who can deliver the powerful narrative through
song. Playing age : 25 – 35. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the first
musical in the Studio Theatre.
We will organise audition slots nearer the time. If you are unable to make these
dates we will do our best to accommodate you. Do please ask Sue if you have any
musical queries. We hope to see lots of auditionees!
For the audition we would like you to prepare the following songs:
Cathy – Still Hurting, The Next Ten Minutes and I Can Do Better Than That (from
bar 88)
Jamie – If I Didn’t Believe in You, Next Ten Minutes and Schmuel Song (from the
start to bar 32).
Please look over these songs prior to the workshop session on the 3rd April.
If you don’t know the musical already you can listen to the soundtrack on Spotify
and YouTube. We recommend you use the original “off Broadway” cast recording
as it is based on the score that we will be using. Please find the score for these
songs on the following pages.
