Course Title: Introduction to Linguistics

Course Description:
This course provides an overview of Linguistics as a discipline, its development, levels of structure and its significance to English language teaching.

General Objective:
To provide teachers understanding of the theories, techniques and materials in teaching Linguistics and their application in various meaningful literary activities.

Specific Objectives:
A. Cognitive
Have a working knowledge of the basic principles concerning the development of linguistics, level of structure and use of the language in general and the linguistics
sign in particular.
B. Affective
Appreciate the application of linguistics sign to phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics and pragmatics.
C. Psychomotor
Apply the different knowledge to the analysis and interpretation of the language.
