Engagement Planning
What is the work site address?
What is the primary contact’s contact information?
What is the project manager’s contact information?
What is the executive sponsor’s contact information?
Who will attend from the customer?
Where will the engagement kickoff meeting be held?
When will the engagement kickoff be held (date and time)?
Where should we park?
Who should we contact on the first day onsite?
Will we be issued badges or require an escort?
Is any identification required, and if so, what (passport, driving license)?
Are there any security requirements (for example, background checks)?
Who will sign off the weekly timesheets?

Will it be possible for customer to scan and email signed project completion forms or timesheets?

Is there an agreed Work Breakdown Schedule (WBS) and schedule?


Has the customer met all pre-engagement documentation requirements?
Will Internet access be available?
What is the communication plan? (Executive briefings, status reports, and so on.)
Will a desk be available?

Customer Resource Management


Confirm that appropriate customer resources have been assigned to support this engagement and
contact details provided.

Resource availability – Confirm that assigned resources have time allocated to support the following
engagement activities:
• Participate in multiple workshops.
• Provide information (such as workbook updates and questionnaire templates) as requested during
the workshops.
• Work with the engagement team on design analysis, implementation, and roadmap discussions.

Workshops
• Verify that meeting rooms are available to support multiple workshops and data gathering sessions.
• Assign a customer project manager to coordinate with the engagement team.
• Confirm that key client participants have accepted the meeting invitations.
• Make sure that a whiteboard and a projector are available.

Verify the availability of communication media as required to support the engagement team, including
video conferencing facilities or WebEx session access.

Active Directory required


DNS must be configured and tested for forward, reverse, short and long name resolution
Minimum number of hosts required is 4 when using vSAN. Default configuration is configured
to 8 hosts for Deploy and Continuous Availability Deploy. Minimum number of hosts for
Highly Available Virtual infrastructure Deploy is 3.
NTP must be setup and time verified to be correct
Shared Storage must be provisioned
Static IP addressing required

Number of 10Gb Ethernet Physical NIC interfaces required One (1) per host (When using FT)

Number of clusters required 1


Number of IP subnets required 2 (When using vCenter Server HA)
Required Licensing Level vCenter Standard license when using vCenter Server HA
vCenter Server version: vCenter Server Appliance Required for vCenter HA Configuration.
Hardware must be verified against the VMware compatibility guide
Number of hosts per cluster 4 (when using vSAN)
Number of IP addresses required 3 per host
Number of VLANS configured 3 (Management, vMotion and vSAN Traffic)
