1. Do you agree with the distinction between the Western and the
Eastern countries? What are your reasons for or against it?

Western and Eastern countries have a very rich and diverse cultures,
each of them have different set of traditions, beliefs and values. So, yes I agree
with the distinction of western and eastern countries.

2. Where does the Philippines stand in this distinction? What are the
factors that influence its position?

Since the Philippines is an Asian country, it do belongs to the eastern


distinction but because of colonization, neighboring countries and
immigration and cultural exchange, Philippines has a unique blend of Eastern
and Western tradition, culture and values.

3. What aspects make the Philippines similar or different from its Asian
neighbors?

Philippines have a very colorful culture, since it was colonized by the


westerns before Filipinos have adopted some culture, values and beliefs that
the western has. For example of this is the religion. Philippines is the only
country in Asia that has a large percentage of Roman Catholic. The
language, our language is a blend of Filipino, Spanish and Chinese
language. Also, because of immigration where a lot of Filipinos work abroad,
they often adopts the western behaviors and it has make a big contribution to
the culture.
