Sometimes I wonder how my life would be without my best friend. After how
many years of putting up with each other we are still inseparable as ever. We know
everything about one another, share everything, and spend hours talking to each
other, developing a relationship that cannot compare in any other friendship.
For some people it’s hard to imagine being friends with someone for so long,
but if I were to choose one person outside of my family that I could not livewithout,
I would definitely pick my best friend. We’ve helped each other through the good
times and bad. She is as much a part of my family as anyone else, no matter what.
We are best friends and so much more, every day I am thankful that we found each
other.

Water droplets form from warm air. As the warm air rises in the sky it cools.
Water vapor (invisible water in the air) always exists in our air. Warm air holds
quite a bit of water. For example, in the summer it is usually very humid. When
enough of these droplets collect together, we see them as clouds. If the clouds are
big enough and have enough water droplets, the droplets bang together and form
even bigger drops. When the drops get heavy, they fall because of gravity, and you
see and feel rain.

Topic: Paragraphs
MELC: Compose effective paragraphs
Key Concepts
The sentence which may be stated or implied and which contains the
purpose of the paragraph is commonly called the topic sentence. It may be
found at the beginning, middle and at the end of the paragraph.
Example:
The environment in which an organism lives is known as
habitat. Earthworms live in the soil; a field mouse lives in a rice field; a lizardlives
in a house; the fish lives in water; a flea lives on the skin of a dog or cat; frogs live
in ponds and the squids live in the sea.
Unity- means that a paragraph should deal with one central theme,
one central thought. Every paragraph has one single, controlling idea that
is expressed in its topic sentence, which is typically the first sentence of
the paragraph. A paragraph is unified around this main idea, with the
supporting sentences providing detail and discussion.
Order-refers to the way you organize your supporting sentences. Whether
you choose chronological order, order of importance, or another logical
4
way of presentation of detail, a solid paragraph always has a definite
organization. In a well-ordered paragraph, the reader follows along
easily, aided by the pattern you’ve established. Order helps the reader
grasp your meaning and avoid confusion.

5. Constructing a wedding cake is a complicated process. Before any baking
takes place, the size of the cake and the decorative design to be used must be
determined. Then the layers are baked. On a large cake the bottom layers may be
as much as sixteen inches in diameter. Because of their size, these layers must
be baked one at a time, a process which may actually take an entire day. Once
the layers are cooled, same-size pairs are matched and frosted. Since large
wedding cakes are surprisingly heavy, half-inch dowel rods must be measured,
cut, and carefully driven into the bottom layers. These wooden posts provide
hidden support for the weighty upper layers. When allthe layers are set in place,
flowers, garlands and leaves of frosting are added. These delicate touches
individualize the wedding cake and transform it from merely a cake into a
culinary work of art.

The life of a butterfly is divided into four stages: egg, larva, pupa and
butterfly. The four stages are called the life cycle of a butterfly.
Stage One: The egg.
A butterfly begins life as an egg. Most eggs are laid on the leaves of plants. They
can be round, oval or even cylindrical in shape depending on the type of butterfly
that laid them.
Stage Two: The larva (caterpillar)
Inside the egg is a larva, which is known as a caterpillar. When it is ready, the
larva hatches and eats the leaf its egg was laid on. It then continues eating for most
of its short life. The larva’s skin cannot stretch as it grows, so it keeps shedding its
skin and growing a new one.
Stage Three: The pupa (Chrysalis)
When it has finished growing, the larva turns itself into a pupa, which is also
called chrysalis. The pupa is like a case to enclose the larva while it changes itself
into a butterfly. The larva does not eat while it is in the pupa, but it gradually
changes its body and grows wings.
Stage Four: The buttefly
Finally, when it is ready, an adult butterfly emerges from the pupa. At first its
wings are soft because they have been folded up inside the pupa, but after it has
rested, the butterfly pumps blood through them so that it is ready to fly. The
butterfly then goes looking for a mate and lays its eggs on a leaf so that the whole
cycle can begin again.

_____2. Coronavirus Disease
Coronavirus is a family of viruses, which can cause the common cold or more
severe diseases such as severe acute respiratory syndrome, Middle East respiratory
syndrome, and the new coronavirus disease, COVID-19.
First identified in late 2019 in Wuhan, China, the COVID-19 pandemic has
sickened more than 117 million people globally and claimed the lives of more than
2. 6 million people worldwide.
COVID-19 is a contagious disease that causes mild to severe respiratory
symptoms with fever, cough, and shortness of breath. It spreads primarily by
person-to-person contact through respiratory droplets that become airborne when
an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks.
Last night, my family visited the carnival that came to town. First, I wenton
the Ferris Wheel. I loved looking at all the people down below as the wheel spun
around and around! After that, my sister was feeling hungry. Dad bought us all ice
creams. I had chocolate chip and it was delicious.! Finally, we went on the bumper
cars. My big brother and I rode together and crashed over and over again.it was
hilarious! It was so special spending time with my family at the carnival.
____4. Let’s flatten the curve
Stay-at-home directives are issued to protect you, your family, and the public
at large. Do your part by staying at home. Now is not the time for a play date for
kids, not the time for a dinner for adults, and not the time for a personal visit to the
elderly. Summer plans should be cancelled, birthday parties should be postponed,
extended family dinners should be suspended. Please stay at home!
Staying at home means no visit to a massage therapist, no nail
appointments, and no visit to the barber or salon. Not for forever. Just for right now.
It means focusing on your home and your health. Limiting contact with other
people is called social distancing and it helps prevent the spread of viruses like
COVID -19. You can literally save lives by staying at home!.
____5. Photosynthesis
Plants use the energy from sunlight to turn carbon dioxide (present in air)and
water into sugar for food. This process is called photosynthesis. The green color of
the leaves, called chlorophyll, helps them to make food for the plant.
