PROCEDURE FOR OVERRIDING ENGINE POWER LIMITER (EPL)

Note: Same to be used only in case of emergency (Safety of vessel being


compromised or upon request of pilot when vessel is unable to navigate due
to adverse current

EPL INSTALLED TO ELECTRONIC GOVERNOR NEAR ME UNIT #6

LOCKED WITH SEAL NUMBER TIGHTENED WITH 24 No. BOLT & NUT
TO OVERRIDE EPL, CUT THE LOCKING SEAL AND REMOVE THE

BOLT AND WASHER ARRANGEMENT WITH SPANNER (BOLT SIZE24)


CHANGES REQUIRED IN NABCO PANEL

Following Addresses to be changed


1. ADD 93: Command Rotating speed upper limit (Control Pos 1 i.e., Bridge)
2. ADD 94: Command Rotating speed upper limit (Control Pos 1 i.e., ECR)
3. ADD 99: Manual Max Limiter (Actuator upper limiter)

IN ECR, ON GOVERNOR CONTROL UNIT PRESS WRITE BUTTON AND THEN TYPE THE ADDRESS 351

AND SWITCH DATA FROM 0 TO 1 AND PRESS ‘ENTER’ BUTTON TO MAKE ‘WRITE ENABLE’ MODE LIT.

WHEN ‘WRITE MODE’ IS ENABLED THE ADDRESS DATA CAN NOW BE CHANGED
ADD 93: To be increased as required. Maximum value 140 RPM as per instruction manual.

GO TO ADDRESS ‘093’ TO CHANGE THE ADDRESS DATA AND PRESS ‘ENTER’ BUTTON

ADD 94: To be increased as required. Maximum value 140 RPM as per instruction manual.

GO TO ADDRESS ‘094’ TO CHANGE THE ADDRESS DATA AND PRESS ‘ENTER’ BUTTON
ADD 99: To be increased as required. Maximum value 68 as per instruction manual.

GO TO ADDRESS ‘099’ TO CHANGE THE ADDRESS DATA AND PRESS ‘ENTER’ BUTTON

AFTER CHANGING THE DATA, MAKE ADDRESS 351 DATA FROM ‘1’ TO ‘0’.

Note: Same to be duly recorded in Operation and maintenance manual (OMM)
