Engine Speed Adjustment For Regulateurs Europa Governor


1- The governor speed controller is located in JB2 as shown in below pic.
2- Pls check if there is mA power supply coming from remote Cpp signal to Mak JB2 terminal X3wire 11 &
12.
3- Put the selector switch on local engine panel to no.2 for remote control to Cpp (Selector no.1 is for local
engine speed increase)
4- Press the accept button for the remote control on Cpp panel.
5- Put the Cpp lever (knob) in ECR for the engine speed to minimum position and measures terminal X3 wire
11 & 12 that there is approx. 4mA. (No starting of engine is require)
6- Then turn the Cpp lever (knob) in ECR for the engine speed to maximum position and measure again
terminal X3 wire 11 & 12 that there is approx. 18.5 to 20mA.

7- Any manual adjustment made on the governor to increase the engine speed to the desire rpm require the
wire no 3, 4, 5, 6 to be removed

Idling speed adjustment remote adjustment (The same adjustment can be made for local speed control
adjustment by putting the selector switch on the engine local panel to no. 1)

8- Start up the engine at idle speed (DO Not Clutch Inn)


9- Put the selector switch on local engine panel to no.2 for remote control to Cpp (Selector no.1 is for local
engine speed increase)
10- Press the accept button for the remote control on Cpp panel.
11- After press the accept button for the remote control on the Cpp panel, kindly ensure the lever or button to
increase or decrease engine rpm is put to minimum position in Cpp panel.
12- Then go to engine Junction Box (JB2) and pull out cable connector no. 3, 4, 5, 6 as below pic.

13- After removal of the said wire connector then go to the governor and remove the top aluminum cap for the
manual adjustment
14- Manually increase or decrease the engine idling speed on the governor manual knob to 450 rpm (idling
speed depending on each engine design as indicated in the (Factory Acceptance Test Record), if the speed is
lower or higher than normal

Remove the aluminum cap cover Clockwise turn to increase speed and anti clock
wise to decrease engine rpm

15- Once the minimum speed is achieved then go to JB2 for minimum speed setting configuration by turning
selector switch as below:
16- Put the selector switch to no. 1 and there will be red light flashing then press the black button one time and
the light disappear. Put back the switch to ‘0’ position

Turn the selector switch clockwise to no 1

17- Again turn the selector switch to no.3 and once the red light flashes then press the black button one time
and light disappear. Put back the switch to ‘0’ position
18- Then again turn the selector switch to no. 5 and once the red light flashes then press the black button once
and light disappear. Put back the switch to ‘0’ position.
19- Remark: Button 1, 3, 5 are for minimum speed setting configuration.
20- Now the minimum speed adjustment is completed.

Adjustment for Rated or Maximum Speed Setting (Remote Adjustment). Do not clutch inn gearbox

21- After the minimum speed adjustment is completed, with cable 3, 4, 5 & 6 still disconnected, go to ECR
(engine control room) Cpp panel and put the lever or knob for engine rpm increase to maximum position.
22- Then go to the governor and manually increase the engine speed on the manual speed setting by turning
clockwise until the rated speed of 720 or 750 rpm is achieved or depending on the generator frequency of
50.5/60.5Hz (Depending on the Factory Test Record of the engine rated speed)

23- Once the maximum speed is achieved then go to JB2 for maximum speed setting configuration by turning
selector switch as below

flashes. Then press the black button once

Turn the selector switch clockwise to no 2


Black button

24- Put the selector switch to no. 2 and there will be red light flashing. Press the black button one time and the
light disappears. Put back the switch to ‘0’ position.
25- Then again turn the selector switch to no.4 and once the red light flashed and press the black button one
time and light disappear. Put back the switch to ‘0’ position
26- Then again turns the selector switch to no. 6 and once the red light flashed and press the black button once
and light disappear. Put back the switch to ‘0’ position.
27- Once the adjustment is completed then reconnect the cable 3, 4, 5, 6 into position.
28- With the local panel selector switch still at position no 2 for the remote control operation, try to
Increase/decrease the engine speed on the Cpp panel in ECR between min to max speed several times.
29- If the speed only can increase to certain rpm then repeat the adjustment for the maximum speed only.
30- Adjustment for the rated speed is completed
