Future simple with will

Form:

• Positive: sujeto + aux (will) + verbo + complemento

• Negative: sujeto + auxiliar en negativo + verbo + complemento

• Question: auxiliar + sujeto + verbo + complemento ? *solo el signo final

Auxiliar future simple = WILL (Con todos) WILL NOT / WON’T

* El verbo no se modifica, se mantienen en infinitivo.

Usage:

1. Predictions and Speculations:

o It is used to make predictions or speculations about the future when there is

no clear evidence.

▪ Example: "I think it will rain later."

2. Spontaneous Decisions:

o It is used to express decisions made at the moment of speaking.

▪ Example: "I'm hungry. I'll make some pasta."

3. Offers, Promises, or Intentions:

o It is used to make offers, promises, or express intentions for the future.

▪ Example: "I'll help you with your homework."

4. Predictions Based on Evidence:

o It is used to make predictions about the future based on present evidence.

▪ Example: "Look at those dark clouds! It will probably rain soon."

1. Predictions and Speculations:

o "I think he will win the competition."

o "She believes it will snow tomorrow."

o "They are confident the project will succeed."

2. Spontaneous Decisions:

o "I'm thirsty. I'll get some water."

o "It's getting late. I'll call a taxi."

o "I can't find my keys. I'll look for them in the morning."

3. Offers, Promises, or Intentions:

o "Don't worry, I'll help you with your homework."

o "I'll lend you my car if you need it."

o "If you need any assistance, I'll be there for you."

4. Predictions Based on Evidence:

o "The sky is clear, so I think it will be a sunny day."

o "Based on the forecast, it will probably rain later."

o "With his talent and hard work, he will surely succeed."

5. Expressions of Hope or Expectation:

o "I hope you'll have a great time at the party."

o "I expect she'll arrive within the hour."

o "I'm sure they'll love the gift."

6. Predictions in Reported Speech:

o "She said she will finish the report by tomorrow."

o "He mentioned that he will travel to Europe next summer."

o "They confirmed they will attend the meeting."

Future simple with going to

Form:

• Positive: sujeto + aux (verb to be: am, is, are) + going to + verbo + complemento

• Negative: sujeto + auxiliar en negativo + verbo + complemento

• Question: auxiliar + sujeto + verbo + complemento ? *solo el signo final

Auxiliar future simple = Am (I)

Is (He, She, It) + going to

Are (you, we, they)

Am not (I)

Is not / isn’t (He, She, It) + going to

Are not / aren’t (you, we, they)

* El verbo no se modifica, se mantienen en infinitivo.

Usage:

1. Planned Events or Intentions:

o Use "going to" to talk about planned events or intentions for the future.

▪ Example: "We are going to have dinner at that new restaurant."

2. Predictions Based on Evidence:

o It can also be used to make predictions about the future based on present

evidence.

▪ Example: "Look at those dark clouds! It's going to rain soon."

3. Informal Future Predictions:

o "Going to" is often used in informal language to make future predictions.

▪ Example: "He's going to be a great musician someday."

4. Imminent Future Actions:

o It's used to talk about actions that are about to happen in the near future.

▪ Example: "She's going to call you in a few minutes."

Examples

Planned Events or Intentions:

• "She is going to start her new job next month."

• "We are going to buy a new house next year."

• "They are going to celebrate their anniversary at a fancy restaurant."

Predictions Based on Evidence:

• "Look at those dark clouds! It's going to storm soon."

• "He's been studying all week; he's definitely going to pass the exam."

• "The traffic is terrible today. I'm going to be late for work."

Informal Future Predictions:

• "She's going to be a famous actress one day."

• "With all the talent he has, he's going to be successful in his career."

• "I'm going to win the race; I've been training hard."

Imminent Future Actions:

• "I'm going to call my friend to wish her a happy birthday."

• "They're going to finish the project by the end of the week."

• "We're going to leave for the airport in an hour."

Intentions or Plans in Present Situations:

• "I'm hungry; I'm going to make some lunch."

• "It's cold outside; I'm going to wear my warmest coat."

• "The garden needs watering; I'm going to do it now."

Offers or Suggestions:

• "I'm going to help you with your homework after dinner."

• "We're going to have a barbecue this weekend; you're welcome to join us."

• "He's going to lend me his car for the road trip."
