1. 'Going to' vs. 'Will' in

'Going to'

We use 'going to' to talk about:

● Plans or intentions that have already been made:


○ I’m going to visit my friends next weekend.
○ She is going to study medicine next year.
● Predictions based on evidence (something we can see happening):
○ Look at the clouds! It’s going to rain.
○ He’s running fast! He’s going to fall.

'Will' -will not/ Won't

We use 'will' to talk about:

● Spontaneous decisions made at the moment:


○ I’m tired. I will go to bed early tonight.
○ She forgot her lunch. I will make her a sandwich.
● Predictions about the future (without evidence):
○ I think it will snow tomorrow.
○ They will win the game.

Key Differences:

● 'Going to' is used for plans and predictions based on what we can
see.
○ I’m going to travel to Spain next year.
● 'Will' is used for spontaneous decisions and predictions without
evidence.
○ I’m thirsty. I will get a drink.

Examples:

● 'Going to' for plans:


○ I’m going to visit my family next month.
○ They are going to have a meeting tomorrow.
● 'Will' for spontaneous decisions:
○ I’m cold. I will close the window.
○ It’s late. I will call a taxi.
● 'Will' for predictions:
○ I think you will pass the test.
○ It will be sunny tomorrow.

Fill in the blanks with the correct form of 'going to' or 'will':

● Activity 1: Making Plans with 'Going to'


Talk about your plans for the weekend or holidays using 'going to':
○ What are you going to do this weekend?
○ Are you going to make any trips this year?
● Activity 2: Making Predictions with 'Will'
Make predictions about the future using 'will':
○ Do you think it will rain tomorrow?
○ What do you think will happen in the next 10 years?

1. Writing Task:
Write a paragraph about your plans for the weekend using 'going
to'. Then, write another paragraph making predictions about next
year using 'will'.

2. Exercise:
Complete the sentences with the correct form of 'going to' or 'will':
○ It’s cold outside. I (wear) ___ a jacket.
○ They (move) ___ to a new house next month.
○ I’m sure you (enjoy) ___ the party.
○ I (call) ___ you when I get home.

Part 1: Future Plans and Predictions

1. Look at those clouds. It _is going to rain__ (rain) soon.

verb to be + going tot + verbo: I am going to visit my grandma tomorrow.

will + verbo: I will visit my grandma if I finish my job early.
