Abstract
In the ever-evolving landscape of cybersecurity threats, antivirus software plays a
critical role in safeguarding digital assets and sensitive information. This abstract
presents a comprehensive overview of antivirus software, its functionalities, and its
significance in protecting against malware, ransomware, and other malicious cyber
threats. Beginning with an exploration of the fundamental principles underlying
antivirus technology, including signature-based detection, heuristic analysis, and
behavior monitoring, this abstract delves into the latest advancements in antivirus
solutions, such as machine learning algorithms and AI-driven threat detection.
Furthermore, it discusses the importance of real-time scanning, automatic updates, and
proactive threat prevention mechanisms in ensuring robust cybersecurity defenses.
Additionally, considerations for selecting the most suitable antivirus software for
individual or organizational needs are highlighted, including compatibility,
performance impact, and cost-effectiveness. Finally, emerging trends and future
directions in antivirus development, including the integration of blockchain technology
