1.0 INTRODUCTION
Stingless bee houses provide shelter and a suitable habitat for stingless bee colonies to
survive and prosper. These amazing insects are endemic to tropical and subtropical climates,
including parts of Asia, Africa, and South America. Stingless bees, unlike honeybees, are
extremely gentle, making them an excellent choice for bee keepers .In this introduction, we
will look at the advantages and principles of stingless bee housing. .We will also go over the
necessary building, maintenance, and care for successful stingless bee houses.
The Meliponini tribe of stingless bees are not only outstanding pollinators, but also
fascinating creatures with intriguing social systems and close-knit colonies. Because of their
modest size and gentle demeanour, they are suitable for beekeeping at home, schools, and
even in cities.
Stingless bee houses are designed to resemble stingless bees' natural habitats and protect
them from harsh weather, predators, and other risks. These structures can take numerous
shapes, such as wooden hives, clay pots, or purpose-built structures with specialised features
that encourage optimal bee health and productivity.
Individuals and communities may play an important role in the conservation of these
magnificent pollinators by building stingless bee houses and enjoying the advantages of local
honey and their advantageous impact on their gardens and surrounding ecosystems.
