EXECUTIVE SUMMARY.
The need for an industrial attachment helps to give or create a clear picture of what is to be
expected by an attaché on the field of choice. Field attachment generally creates a good platform
for practical training experience that prepares a trainer or a learner for tasks he or she may expect
upon completion of learning.
My report mainly contains information which I gathered during my industrial training at
Nabongo Tailoring and Uniform supplies for a period of three months. As an enthusiastic learner
that I am my reason for involved involvement in an industrial attachment was to acquire more
knowledge, skills, confidence when handling vehicles also to help utilize opportunities of getting
to work with a different set of people.
This report generally stipulates all the activities I undertook, experiences gained practical skills
acquired and the personal input towards this lovely company. It also gives me a brief
introduction of Nabongo Tailoring and Uniform supplies and duties of the department I was
involved. This further goes ahead to give details on duties and functions of my department i.e.
the Institutional Management Department.
I’m very certain that the information written down on this report is reflecting all my
achievements I gained as per my objective. It also shows the benefits, success, and my
challenges and how I overcame some of the hardships encountered, also shows my
recommendation upon conclusion of training.

This report is organized in the following order.

CHAPTER THREE
3.0 EVALUATION OF THE ATTACHMENT PERIOD REPORT
3.1 BENEFITS OF THE ATTACHMENT EXERCISE.
When I reflect back to my objectives while undertaking my attachment training program, I can
with confidence say that everything turned out to be a success and that each and every goals and
objectives were achieved.
I was able to learn a lot which helped me to add a great deal of my experience in the vehicle
electric industry and mechanics industry too. Apart from my practical skills I got to learn each
day there. I was also able to gain more theoretical skills about my field of study.

3.2 ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE ATTACHMENT EXERCISE

I was able to gain the following benefits at the end of my exercise.
 Able to construct dresses and dust coats.
 Able to assemble the machine for sawing.
 How to get organized before beginning any job.
 How to analyze any problem on sawing machine and how to solve it.
 How to dispose off used pieces of clothes

3.3 THEORETICAL ACHIEVEMENTS ACQUIRED.

Due to my resilience and great concentration in my work and stay at the institution, I was able to
gain much experience not only practically but also theoretically I came out well equipped. I was
equipped and very loaded at the following sectors.
 Communicating well with clients and understanding their needs.
 The most complete and secure way to carry out of machine diagnosis fast.
 The whole process of servicing sawing machine and what it entails generally.

3.4 KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS GAINED

First personally, I was able to put all my closer practices and teachings into a tremendous test as
this was my time to show case my abilities and all I had grasped within the great period.
Generally, I was able to acquire good management skills, self-motivation and most of all good
evaluation skills .Also since my stay required lots of interaction here and there in my pursuit to
learn, led to me gaining lots of confidence as I was always finding myself talking with different
classes of people everyday which again helped me to gain good interpersonal relationship too. I
got to improve my knowledge about textile work very much as I worked each and every day
without fail.

3.5 DISCUSSION ON THE GAIN EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS.

My interpersonal relationships gained through my interaction with the supervisor and mostly the
other working staff gave me courage on how to handle different people irrespective of the
positions they held either in the community or other ranks they held.
It also acts as a liaison for us college students to various organizations hence brightening once
employment chances when one gets done with the learning process. Also I got to learn that my
attachment helps me to fit into the actual world experience much more easily and fast as
attachment enables one to have firsthand experience which can’t be taught in class.

3.6 MAJOR CHALLENGES ENCOUNTERED.

In my attachment I went through various challenges each day but they even pushed me further to
keep pushing and going each day as if you love what you do or learn then definitely there’s no
any amount of tribulation that might pull you down at anyone time some of those challenges
were:
 The problem of securing an attachment in any big company as they got some laxity when
it comes to replying one's plea to have an attachment in their companies hence these
really demotivates a lot of learners and it actually leads one to go for a middle class
establishment which may also be struggling and hence not much might be learnt.
 Also which most of the time became a challenge as one could wake up and there’s a
heavy down pour which hinders movement and at times even leading to unplanned
lateness.
 Limited time periods for one to look for an attachment place and start immediately as
much of time will have been spent before securing a good spot, therefore attachment time
is lessened a bit.
 Lack of payments totally banking terms index many of the attaches during their programs
have some allowances given to them may at least come in very handy i.e. transport wise
or go towards other expenses like food and shelter.
 Hostility among some of the workers who normally see us as liability when assigned
duties with them and therefore making the process very hectic.

3.7 HOW I OVERCAME SOME OF MY CHALLENGES

I would gladly say that some of these challenges really helped me grow my confidence as it
showed how real life out of school really looks, and how to get to deal with different kinds of
people.
In this challenges generally the issue of limited time mainly I was able to curbit by working
tirelessly from Monday to Saturdays from 8:00am to 5:30 pm, so I really found this good for me
in order to cover my time lost in trying to secure an attachment.
Whereas, for the issue of bad weather I just always dealt with it like a good soldier who trained
well and really understands how to maneuver around bad weather itself without fear of the mud
being sput at me by either cars or motorbikes, as I would always reach and clean myself before
everyone had arrived.

lOMoARcPSD|41373495

The issue of hostility mostly, I never let it get into my head as I was everywhere.so whenever I
saw one of my colleagues was hostile with me or in a bad mood I would always just give them
space to just cool it before coming back to them later just to find him and I laughing it again after
hard day of work.
Lack of allowances. I really did manage to get through it by mostly not thinking of it mostly as I
was very ecstatic about my chance to work with them and mostly I would walk for many
kilometers though it was tiresome at times but I took it as my stepping stone to achieve
greatness.

4.0 CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS

4.1 CONCLUSIONS
My training has been of great success generally apart from practical skills gained, getting to
work in a serene environment and getting to connect with different people altogether. I can with
much certainty confirm that this program has helped build my interest even more concerning my
career choice and has also equipped me with great expectations of working in a highly
competitive environment without fear.
It has also helped in instilling some integrity in me like punctuality, being submissive to
accepting other people`s views like supervisors. My communication skills have improved and
also efficiency in work.
Such programs should therefore continue being put into considerations and continue being
maintained also for students to learn more practically as it has rewarded me with much
experience I never had.
Career wise, I can say I was able to fit in transition wise from what I was learning in school to
the outside world without much trouble.
4.2 RECOMMENDATIONS
Due to my short experience of about eight weeks as it had to be cut short due to time, actually
the following should be put into place to better future benefits for students and institutions they
find themselves at large;
 All institutions should start helping students in searching for attachment institutions as
early as possible because much time is wasted in searching.
 Institution to liaise with HELB and look forward to push grants to be used to support
attachés.
 Institutions can also cater for the wellbeing of each and every attaché by providing them
with essentials which may come in handy when experiencing bad weather i.e. Gumboots,
rain coats and umbrellas which may go a long way to heal them.
