WEEK 1 - FEBRUARY 5, 202

On the first day of class on statistics It can help train our mind to think about how data is
organized, hypotheses, and what samples of data mean. The skill sets that you practice and apply in a
statistics class can be transferred and used in many different subject areas, now i understand statistics
applications very clearly. I know how to collect, arrange, and explain the details. In data analysis, I may
apply central tendency measurements such as mean, mode, and median. Then i learned that Statistics
are the sets of mathematical equations that we used to analyze the things. It keeps us informed about,
what is happening in the world around us. Statistics are important to our life because today we live in
the information world and Individuals use statistics to make decisions in financial planning and
budgeting. It means to be informed correct data and statics concepts are necessary.

WEEK 2 - FEBRUARY 12, 2023

In the chapter 2. We learn that the frequency distribution are typically displayed using a graph
or data set in statistics, where the data information are grouped to clearly show how frequently a specific
outcome is based on recurring events. Also can be graphed using a histogram or pie chart and is
frequently helpful for summarizing large amounts of data sets and assigning probability. It is essential
to have knowledge of this type of procedure, especially for those who work with data or information also
the chart of frequency distribution puts you in a stronger position to understand a set of people or things
because it helps u visualize how a variable behaves across its range of possible values.

For the chapter 3 the measure of Central tendency, which is one of the most often, performed
calculations in many academic institutions. The mean, median, and mode these three measures are
valid under various conditions depending on the target objective. The most often used statistic,
commonly known as the average, that searches for an equal number of values in divided data sets is the
mean. The second one was the media that looks for the middle score in the data while mode looks for
the measure of the most frequent number in the data set. Knowing these things helps people to find
data or score from a large amount of data.
On the chapter 4 is all about the measure of variability that summarize the statistical
information that represents the amount of dispersion of numbers from each other, the measure of
variability is used for determining how much close or the how much is the distance of numbers from
each other. we learn how important to know because it helps us in understanding the degree in which
data valued are spread in the measurement, it offers an idea on how to understand and interpret the
data that was gathered. It's important to know the different measures of variation. Learning about the
measures of variation helps you understand how to use this data effectively.

There are many ways in which statistics and probability can be useful. First of all, it helps you
learn how to interpret and use numbers in everyday life, and how to solve and calculate numbers.
Secondly, it also helps with the different careers we pursue. A knowledge of probability and statistics
helps students use these as evidence in research to their benefit. These can be used for psychoanalytic
studies.

WEEK 2 - FEBRUARY 12, 2023

A graphical or tabular representation of the number of observations within a given interval is

known as a frequency distribution. The actual number of observations falling within each range or the
percentage of observations can be shown by frequency distributions. The distribution is referred to as a
relative frequency distribution in the latter circumstance. Both categorical and numerical variables can
be represented by frequency distribution tables.

In statistics, the two measures that are used to summarize data are central tendency and
variation. The dispersion of data values is depicted by the variation measure, whereas the center or
middle of the data set is depicted by the central tendency measure. You can find the middle, or average,
of a data set with the help of measures of central tendency. The mean, median, and mode are the three
most prevalent measures of central tendency. The most typical value is the mode. In a data set that is
ordered, the median is the middle number.

In this week, we discussed the definition of statistics, why do we need to study it, its
applications, statistical data, types of variables, level of measurement, population and sample,
parameter and statistic, descriptive and inferential, sampling error, statistics in the context of research,
data structures, and research methods. From what I’ve learned, statistics is a large-scale numerical data
collection and analysis, especially with the aim of estimating proportions in the total from those in a
representative sample. Knowing statistics makes it easier for us to collect data correctly, conduct
accurate analysis, and effectively present the findings. Making judgments based on data, making
predictions, and making scientific discoveries all depend on statistics. Statistics allows psychologists to
organize, describe, and make inferences based on data. Our foundation in statistics will help us
understand the research that is discussed in our other psychology classes. We can become wise
consumers of psychology information and improve our ability to evaluate the information we come across
by knowing the study process, particularly the types of statistical analyses that are utilized. We can
make better decisions about our health and well-being if we understand numbers.

This week, the discussion is all about frequency distribution, the graphs, and
interpolation. Frequency tables or charts are used to represent frequency distributions. Frequency
distributions can display the proportion of observations or the actual number of observations that fall
inside each range. The distribution is known as a relative frequency distribution in the latter case. A
frequency distribution, used as a statistical tool, offers a visual depiction of the distribution of
observations within a specific test. Frequency distributions are frequently used by analysts to represent
or visualize the data gathered from a sample. Frequency distributions can be used to show complex data
in an effective way. A frequency distribution may be used in psychology study to examine the significance
of numbers more closely. Consider a psychologist who was interested in studying how test anxiety affects
academic performance. The researcher might group the data into a frequency distribution, which can
then be easily transformed into a bar graph, rather than merely looking at a large number of test results.
The researcher can then swiftly examine crucial elements like the range of scores and which scores
occurred the most and least frequently by doing this.

Central Tendency is the topic of this week’s lesson. A summary measure called a measure
of central tendency, also known as a measure of center or a measure of central placement, aims to
characterize the entirety of a set of data with a single number that corresponds to the middle or center
of its distribution. The average or middle of a dataset can be discovered with the help of central tendency
measures. The mode, median, and mean are the three most often used measures of central tendency.
The most frequent value is the mode. The median is the midpoint of an ordered dataset. Mean is the
product of the total number of values and their sum. In psychology, central tendency is significant
because a measurement can suggest a typical result. It can assist a psychologist in making sense of
research data and figuring out what is typical or normal for a given group as a whole.

In addition, we talked over the chapter 4 lesson on variability. The term "variability" refers
to the distance between data points within a distribution and their distance from its center.
Measurements of variability give you descriptive statistics that summarize your data in addition to
measures of central tendency. Spread, scatter, and dispersion are other terms for variation. The range
is often calculated as the difference between the highest and lowest numbers. Interquartile range is the
range of a distribution's middle percentile. the average distance from the mean, or standard deviation.
Average of squared deviations from the mean is called variance. The variability quantifies the degree of
dispersion between your points, whereas the central tendency, or average, shows you where most of
your points lie. This is significant because it affects how well you can predict results from the sample to
the population.

As I sit down and listen to our prof about the major subject which is "Psychological Statistics" I
was amazed by our prof, Because he is good at teaching and he is kind. Today my prof discusses the
Psychological Statistics he introduces to us the application of numbers, theorems and formulas. Also he
discusses the importance of statistics in psychology. I learned a lot about this topic, I hope I can use it
in many things and I hope I can learn more.

Today our topic is about chapter 3 which is about Central Tendency, it is a statistical measure
that determines a single value that accurately describes the center of the distribution and represents
the entire distribution of scores. I learned a lot in this topic the differences between mean, median and
mode. After that sir gave us the quiz about his topic last time.

After the discussion, I learned that psychological statistics is an application of formulas,

theorems, and laws to psychology. In order to use statistics, we need data to analyze. And I learned that
the variable is simply the characteristics or features of the things that we are interested in
understanding. I also learned about statistical data, which is data. This data reflects the collection of
data that is relevant to the problem being studied. Aside from that, I learned the differences between
primary and secondary data. And of course, the two types of variables. They are discrete and continuous.
When we say discrete, it is the result of counting, while continuous is measuring, I realized that studying
statistics is important because statistics serve as the link between a research idea and conclusion.
Lastly, I already learned about the types of statistics and the level of measurement. Also, the population
and the sample methods.

After discussion, I learned about another topic in psychological statistics. This is the frequency
distribution, an organized tabulation showing exactly how many individuals are located in each category
on the scale measurement. Frequency distribution helps students easily identify the given number or
organize the entire value of data. Frequency distributions also consist of two tables or columns where x
and f are listed. And I know that the sum of frequencies should equal n. Aside from that, I learned the
graph, shape, polygons, histograms, and percentile rank. I understand how to define and compute this.

After the discussion in psychological statistics, I learned about the central tendency. Another
statistical measure that we need to understand and know is the central tendency, which determines a
single value that accurately describes the center of the distribution. Also, the goal of this topic is to

between the mean, median, and mode. Because this topic is familiar to me because, since high school,
my teacher has discussed it, I have an idea of how to solve it that, until now, I have never forgotten how
to find and calculate.
After the central tendency, another topic and discussion came up again: it is all about the
variability. This topic refers to the distance between data points within a distribution and their distance
from its center. Measures of variability help us give descriptive statistics that summarize our data in
addition to measuring central tendency. I also learned about the grouped data of variability: range,
variance, standard deviation, e.t.c. I also know that standard deviation is one of the most significant
indicator of variability standard deviation quantifies variability by taking into account the distance
between each score and the distribution's mean as a point of comparison.

WEEK 1 - FEBRUARY 5, 2023

The first topic we discussed in Psychological Statistics was only an introduction to statistics.
Different statistical terms as well as research terms were included. During the discussion, I was already
familiar with most of the sub-topics such as the level of measurement, population, sample, statistic,
parameter, descriptive, inferential, variables, research methods, and the like. Nevertheless, I still learned
a lot of things, especially, in applying statistics to my chosen field. A psychologist, psychiatrist, or
psychometrician does not deal with their job purely on their knowledge or intuition, proper procedure
must be done and that’s the use of statistics. Statistics would be beneficial in acquiring and analyzing
data of clients; thus, I expect to learn more from this subject.

During the second week of discussion, we talked about the frequency distribution. I recalled
what frequency distribution was and learned the different distribution graphs. Having knowledge in
creating frequency distribution table and graphs are vital in statistics, especially, if it’s time for me to
conduct research. Even though interpolation is quite difficult to understand, the light atmosphere
brought by the professor made it bearable. Furthermore, frequency distribution graphs are essential in
interpreting data easier. In addition to that, percentiles and percentile ranks were also studied and
solved problems.

There are three commonly used techniques for measuring central tendency: mean, median, and mode.
I have learned that using central tendency enables researchers to describe or present a set of data in a
simplified form. It is important to know what is the most appropriate technique to use. The most common
technique is the mean; however, some data might require to use of the median or the mode technique
so that researchers can present a credible and reliable set of data.

Variability describes how dispersed a set of data is. In other words, variability represents the
degree to which your scores vary from one another. Data sets with values that are widely dispersed have
high variability; whereas, data sets with similar values are considered to have little variability. We
discussed the measure of variability which are variance, standard deviation, and range. The process of
solving for the variance and standard deviation is quite complex due to its long process. It’s crucial to
be careful in solving every part because one mistake can ruin everything; one mistake and the result
will be incorrect.

observations. We obtain a frequency distribution after classifying the data into reasonable-sized groups
and noting the number of observations in each group. It is possible to effectively summarize the data by
creating a frequency distribution. It is a technique for presenting the information in a condensed form.
A frequency table is another name for a frequency distribution.

Second week of second semester, we will finally able to meet our professor in psychological
statistics. Last week we didn’t meet our professor which is Sir. Mayano maybe because of sudden
changes in schedules. Of course we need to know our professor’s life and education before the
introduction of our subject. Sir Robles from my perspective are he is realist because he didn’t sugar
coated his background education, after I heard about his story on how he passed his research by using
his wit and creativeness to manipulate the numbers on his research. I was amazed because he didn’t
hide about this to us. After a short life introduction, Sir Robles introduce to us the psychological
statistics where we need to finish all topics before the exam week, we are one week late.

WEEK 2 - FEBRUARY 12, 2023

A couple days ago, I started to realise what I want to pursue I’m finally decided to become a
psychometrician so I need to take this subject seriously. This week, the topic is how to solve for the
percentage of the given information and different types of graphs that we may use to present our data.
At first, I need to stay focused because the topic is very complex and hard to understand, specially the
formula if you missed one number or you multiply the wrong number your data will result to inaccurate
representation. The class is straight 6 hours and there’s a moment my attention to the lecture is slowly
fading away. But at the end of the class, I finally understand and solve the problems given by my
professor and I doubt my dreams on becoming a psychometrician I didn’t know that I need to suffer like
this every year to become a psychometrician.

WEEK 3 - FEBRUARY 19, 2023

Great I am late, this has to be my worst day since the first day of class. Rainy day means muddy
terrain at my workplace. Muddy pavements gives me hard time to move with my horses, it slows down
our mobility because horses are afraid to step on muddy paddles, this is the reason why I am late to my
first period of class. I am thirty minutes late and when I entered the classroom and sat beside my friend,
she told me that today we will having quiz after the discussion of mean, median, and mode. I sat quietly
and listen to the discussion, but my brain cannot take it all the formula to find the median at mode is
very hard to solve and to find. But I understand the lesson but the formula is very complex, I must study
this very well because exam is coming next week. Oh, I got fifteen out of twenty on my quiz, not bad and
not good.

The introduction to psychology has a lot of topics including, psychological statistics. Psychology
Statistics is a formulas,theorems,numbers and laws to psychology.The importance of Statistics in
Psychology is you are interested in people together and measure their level of: stress (one variable),
anxiety (a second variable), their physical health (a third variable). It also tells that statistics include
numerical facts and figure. In order to use statistics we need data to analyze.

In our second chapter, we studied about frequency distribution. It shows that how many exact
individuals are located in each category on the scale of measurement. It also presents a picture that is
organized of an entire set of scores.Frequency Distribution can get by using Histograms,Polygons, Bar
graphs etc. You can also interpolate the scores or percentages that do not corresponds to upper real
limits or cumulative percentages.

WEEK 1 - FEBRUARY 5, 2023

First meeting as I expected our prof discussed. Where are almost 2 weeks late so I expected that
Mr.Robles will discuss. Upon seeing him I felt nervous because Mr. Robles looks like a very strict
professor and to be honest I am not good in math so I'm really manifesting that our prof is
understanding and nice. But I was wrong upon introducing himself I was laughing the whole time
because he always jokes. After the introduction he started to discuss the first lesson. Our first lesson is
about the Introduction of Statistics. In this I've learned more about what is statistics and why is it
important especially in our course which is psychology. The first lesson was kinda long because there
were so many components that discussed and it was tiring. In the first discussion I would that I able to
know the statistical terms like statistical analysis, statistical data and more. Variables, level of
measurement, population, sample, sampling method, The difference between parameters and statistics,
The types of statistics are being discussed in the first meeting. Additionally Data structures and
Research method are also included. This all was being discussed in just the first meeting. It was so
draining but I would say that I've learned somehow.

WEEK 2 - FEBRUARY 12, 2023

In second meeting, Mr.Robless discuss about the frequency distributions. In this I've learned
that A frequency distribution shows where each individual is located relative to others in the scale of
measurement. There are types of distributions. The regular frequency distribution and the grouped
distribution. In a regular frequency distribution, a frequency distribution table lists all of the individual
categories (X values). On the other hand, when a set of scores covers a wide range of values, grouped
frequency distribution is used. Aside from this, frequency distribution graphs are also discussed.
Histograms, polygons, bar graphs, relative frequency, smooth curve, shape and the skewed distribution
are the graphs that can be used. Percentiles and percentile ranks are also included. Luckily I get it but
when it comes to the interpolation I am really struggling and to be honest until now I didn't fully
understand it.

On the third and last discussion in prelim we have a two lessons. The central tendency and
variability. We also had our long quiz. In chapter 3, which is the central tendency I've learned that a
central tendency is a statistical measure that accurately describes the center of the distribution.It also
includes the Mean, Median and the Mode. As i remember, Mr. Robles said that the mean is the most
commonly used measure of the central tendency. He also taught how to get the mean and happily I get
it immediately. Moving on to the median. The median is the midpoint of the list and for me it was the
easiest measure in central distribution because I was able to understand and get it easily. Lastly the
mode. The mode is defined as the most frequently occurring category or score in the distribution. To be
honest, I don't know much about the mode. Perhaps I was sleepy when Sir. Robles was explaining it. In
the chapter 4 which is the variability. I able to understand that finding a measure of how evenly
distributed the scores are in a distribution is the aim of variability. We also solved!! And it was so
arduous but I able to understand it, luckily.

Research Title
Impacts of Long-time Quarantine on the Personality Types of College Students

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented changes to human lives. The crisis caused
everyone to isolate themselves from the world to not increase the number of cases of people getting
infected. This sudden shift in lifestyle during the quarantine alters the way people live and communicate;
the beauty of interaction has been replaced by distant communication through different online
platforms. Two years of a pandemic might have impacted every individual, specifically, every individual’s
personality type. Hence, the researchers would like to look into the impacts of long-time quarantine on
the personality types of college students.

Statement of the Problem

1. What is the demographic profile of respondents in terms of:

1.1. Age
1.2. Gender
2. How does the routine/activities impact the respondent’s personality type in terms of:
2.1. Social Skills
2.2. Types of Activity (recreational, online, academic)
3. Is there a correlation between the age, gender, and routine of the college
students during quarantine and their developed personality type?

Method: Correlational

Independent Variables:
Routine/Activities: discrete, interval level of measurement
Age: continuous, ratio level of measurement
Gender: discrete, nominal level of measurement

Dependent Variable:
Developed Personality Type: continuous, nominal level of measurement

Hypothesis:
Null Hypothesis: There is no correlation between the age, gender, and routine of the college
students during quarantine and their developed personality type.
Alternative Hypothesis: There is a correlation between the age, gender, and routine of
college students during quarantine and their developed personality type.
